Airline Flight shops

So no one knows any other msc? I'm sure each airline has their own program so some other msc has those airlines as clients.

Given the dearth of competition in U.S. domestic passenger airline travel, I would find it quite surprising to learn that each airline has itself shopped. Indeed, I only know of the one which has engaged SQM. ath's client is not an airline but rather a bank. SQM also shops two non U.S. airlines. If you were to Google about, you'd find one European airline which shops itself through an in-house program.

Where are you flying to nationally that cost more than $900? Unless you fly first class strictly, it's still a good deal.

$900 is not at all out-of-line for a trip in the back of the plane if one does not meet restrictions for excursion fares - e.g. if one does not have sufficient advanced notice or is not staying over a weekend or if one simply can't find the seat inventory.

$900 is an insane amount of money to pay for a coach seat on a domestic trip. I just booked a rt ticket to Cairo for $967 for dec and a last minute trip to Paris for $638

Insane it might be, but it is not at all uncommon especially for short-notice in secondary markets. For example the lowest fare for SBP-MCI RT 16APR-17APR is currently $1168 and AGS-LIT for the same dates is $961.

TATL is much more competitive than US domestic flights; moreover, PAR and CAI are both very major destinations and December is off season.

$900 is not insane if you are going last minute into a smaller market....I had to go to a family funeral out of state last month...had I been able to afford the last minute flight it would have been $800 for the lower end to get to the closest airport to the town I was going to. Luckily we were able to fly a little more than halfway on Southwest and drive the rest of the way for about $250 round trip.

(And FWIW only one or two airlines offer any kind of "Bereavement Fare" anymore and its not too much off the full fare price).

Pass around!
What other MSC’s offer comparable airline shops? I’m obviously not getting anywhere with ath at this point!

One of the first?!???? If I’m sending a request the same day/hour they’re posted whose to say who requested it first, second or last?? Only the scheduler would be prive’d to this information, so they can say whatever they want in that case... Some are even saying they “hold” shops for certain people.

Don't wait till they are posted. When I have my monthly trip for work booked, I email the scheduler with my itinerary and let her know I'm available to schedule the attached flights next month. She then lets me know when the posting will be made and that's when she starts going through what is submitted. Some times she will tell me at that point she already has a number of submissions and my chances of getting assigned.
I did not realize the shops for ATH were still happening for airlines....haven't gotten an email to that effect in awhile. The last airline email I saw from them was for the kiosk shops at selected airports.

I think they have enough people who travel regularly like me that they don't need to send out emails for them anymore.

Understood...both times I tried to get these shops they said they had more applicants than shops available.

I've never seen airlines shopped with Ath...the bank shop seems to be the only one out here on the West coast.

Good advice! I never thought about sending her my proposal a month in advance. The only problem I see is drastic rate increases when you actually go to book the flight that next month. You mentioned you fly for work — so does your company already book your flight that previous month? According to the guidelines they ask that you not book the flight before putting in a request and being approved. Unless it’s the $30 already booked flight evaluation. In this case I’m referring to the $150 in-flight shop; $300 reimbursement.
They’re only out of certain cities and they go like hotcakes!! You blink and they’re gone! (Seriously)
That’s funny. I can remember at one point, years ago, this particular scheduler was reaching out to me (in a state of desperation) asking if I’m available to fly, which was no problem because i fly for work anyway. Nowadays they have “too many” request... guess the cat is out the bag! Also, they are still sending emails for this shop. I receive them monthly. Not sure why others aren’t receiving them.

Certain cities to fly out of or certain cities to look for the shops?

ath is shopping in-flight credit card solicitations for one of their bank clients.
True, not for air flights, I emailed and they have nothing...bad information.

The pre-booked and not already booked shops are interchangeable. They are just trying to get X number of people to fly and would much rather pay someone who is going to be flying no matter what (and thus the lower reimbursement) than people who won't do it if they full flight cost isn't reimbursed. They go through the people who already have flights booked and then if they don't have enough of those, will take people who want to book flights for the $300 reimbursement.

Flying out of LAX last month ....

Just because they post the shops in Maryland, it doesn't mean you have to fly from anywhere specific. I'm flying from Chicago to Phoenix next week and am doing the shop on both flights there and back.
You suggested that I not wait until the shops are posted on the job board. Just out of curiosity — When did you put in your request in May to fly for this month (June)? I’m trying to gauge how soon I should put in a request for a July shop...

I am guessing they have a certain number of shops to do on a quarterly basis....I'd check later this month....

My trip for this month didn't get booked till May 29th so that was when I sent it in. I should be booking next month's trip this week so I'll send it over then. I just do it whenever I have my flight booked and I think there was only one month they were full already.
Just curious. Were you told all of the flights were paused for July? I sent my proposal early (June14) and was told she does not accept early proposals, then I received a follow up message stating the program was paused for July...

I received an email this morning from Ath about a flight shop that pays $150 and reimburses $300 but I have to fly over 500 miles. Sounds like a good deal if you really need to take a flight. All you have to do is listen to the in-flight announcements and evaluate them.
Yes. I see that. It’s weird they are listed now.... I was just told by the scheduler they were paused for July per the clients request. ODD! But thanks for the heads up!
The only job I see on Ath are the banks, I've been working for them the past 6 months, and wish they'd get something else. Did anyone really get a flight with them??????

They only post them in Maryland I think but anyone can do them. Just google a zipcode in Maryland and set the range at like 100 miles and you should be able to find them.
