Tucson, your comment was:

"Ok I sent a e-mail, i wont be a d****** like some others in this thread."

You originally spelled out the d bag word and apparently a moderator came along and moderated.

Let's see if we can decrapify this.

You are correct that no specific person was called a d****bag. The insult was to the group posting on the thread. This is like throwing firecrackers into a crowd, and then saying, "Gee, I didn't throw those at you exactly. It wasn't personal". No matter what you say now, I know I was firecrackered.

You shouldn't be apologetic about what you said about us. Independence is precious. Man up and own your post, or not. Doesn't matter. Won't change a thing now. You'll always be that guy who said you "won't be a d*****bag like some others in this thread".
Some others. That's us. Or we, if you have grammar issues.

If there was a shop on being NICE to others, the most of you would not get it.
Instead of just saying, "There is a link at the bottom of this page that will give you a great list," you go on and on ranting at the person.
This has been going on for days to anyone who ask a question about shops.
Surley, there is some shops left in Arizona for another shopper.
Lighten up will you!
And, don't come back at me with your venom.
Cruise, of course you're right about the shops in Arizona. We can see from this thread that Coyle is looking for shoppers in Arizona. There are 18 discussions listed on the forum, and Coyle is on the list at the bottom of the page. I'm sure the OP had already found Coyle through his individual efforts from information provided here. This forum is an amazing wealth of leads.

I believe that new members ask for our lists of the companies and don't realize most of us consider them proprietory information. We've been asked so many times it's started to be funny instead of serious. Any newcomer who reads at all would already know this is not the sort of help that will be provided in most cases. There are some who will share job sources and they're free to do that, but those who will share job sources appear to be rare shoppers. I don't mind if you share your job sources. I hope you don't mind if I don't usually share mine.

Perhaps you took the posts kidding around on this thread as rants. Forum members often inside joke with each other and posts are not necessarily directed at the original poster. My first post on this thread was to warn the OP we were kidding around about Freeman and Franchise Compliance, and he shouldn't get mixed up with them. I thought that was helpful, but apparently I was wrong. Often a thread becomes a discussion among subsequent posters and doesn't refer to the original post at all. The thread becomes whatever it becomes as more and more people respond to it.

Someone keenly interested in providing kind and generous assistance to new posters could monitor the "Introductions" and "New Members" sections throughout the day and make helpful and detailed responses as considered appropriate. This opportunity is available to everyone serious enough to devote time and attention to it, and would allow you to post your own immediate answers providing detailed information.

It is commendable that you are interested in the new forum members, and I hope to see you often in the "Introductions" and "New Members" sections.

BTW, people who live in glass houses. I've seen you spew some venom the last couple of days and couldn't figure out why. Besides, what's wrong with pointing out the existing list and other features of the forum? That is certainly being helpful and nothing to get raked over the coals about.

How did you find pictures of the OP .... or anyone who posts on the forum?

Unfortunately people don't realize that by putting their email address on a forum or any other public source it can then be searched in social blogs such as...Facebook.
It's scary isn't it? Watch the movie/documentary Catfish (every so often MTV runs the entire movie), or the now television show Catfish on MTV. If someone has an image of you, there is a site where it looks to see if that particular image/pic is anywhere else on the internet.

Definitely creepy and scary.

I love Catfish. You can just Google an image. I do it alot for other things not really looking up OPs in threads. LOL.
Ok, I may have jumped the gun guessing that Hollywood may be a troll. With so many that have baited threads recently (that I've wasted the time responding to), I immediately looked to see when he/she joined, since there was only one post. I apologize for my assumption.

This thread is getting interesting,
Let it be said that i haven't and won't ever apologize for a post. Unless i post something way---- out of line, or there is/was a gross misunderstanding of my intent.
When I first started I went to company's that list multiple vendors such as Job Slinger and placed my zip code where it asked NEAR------- That way I got to see what companys had jobs that were looking for shoppers in my zip code area. I signed up with all of them. I aslo read this forum often and keep away from ones that pay on time or wait 3 months to pay. I hope this helps.
That is usually one of my suggestions just so a new shopper can target some companies. It still doesn't negate the benefit of signing up with every good company because of changing clients, etc. I also don't mind a question regarding companies for new people in general versus a specific area. Most of us will recommend Market Force, Corporate Research and Bare International because they tend to have jobs nationwide and MF and CORI in particular really are new shopper friendly. To direct a new shopper to companies with complex, narrative heavy reports is probably more of a disservice than a help and that is what they want when they hear about the fees some of those jobs pay and don't realize how difficult the shop can be.

earlybroncogirl, you might want to do a little reading before you sign up with those companies.

Also, you might want to tune up your sarcasm detector....

We are a natinwide company and would love to have you in our database. Go to. www.CustomerPerspectives.com and read the information under Shoppers, then register. Also look for companies through mysteryshop.org.
The BEST thing to do - go to the MSPA website, there are listing of member companies. Also check out Volition.com. Also a great sourse is the IMSC (Independent Mystery Shoppers Coalition). I have received many, many leads thru these organizations!

Judi,
It is the custom here to have all company reps attach a permanent sig line to their screen names, providing their company name, position, and contact information for the company. You can do this by going to your personal profile and adding a signature. It will then automatically attach to all of your posts, including prior ones.

Hey Nick, the best thing to do is use the Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies right here on this sitegrinning smiley

If I am correct, I know Nick from IMSC conferences where he often volunteers his services to help make things run smoothly.

Nick, welcome to the forums. Lisa is right, there is a great list of legitiate MSCs provided here. AND, like the IMSC conferences, it is not restricted to MSPA member copanies.

You will find a very lively set of discussions here and much more current activity than on the volition shopping forums.

@walesmaven you are correct - I do attend the IMSC Conferences. The conferences are a great source of education, comradery and just plain great to meet with sponsors.

I am SOON (Dec 23 last day as a full time employee) to retire and have started to apply to NUMEROUS additional companies for assignments. I am presently trying to research video equipment to do video shops - any syggestions would be appreciated. (Good quality on a shoestring) Thanks

Nick, try searching the forum for "video equipment" and you will find a wealth of information that need not be repeated. Let us know if you have any questions after reading those threads.

Well said,

I was just thinking the same thing as I read yet another thread on this. It would be good if some of the regulars developed a standard script for new posters. Perhaps this script could be automatically sent to new subscribers. Perhaps something is and I just don't remember.

My recent reply to a new poster reads:

Welcome _________!

I hope you'll find this forum a good source of information on Mystery Shopping (MSing) and a great source of entertainment. I'm assuming that you're new to MSing since you just found us. Let me encourage you to read through the first six posts from Flash in the New Mystery Shopper section first. This will answer many of your newbie questions and give you a great head start.

There is a link to the official list of mystery shopping companies at the bottom of this and every page. Don't bother asking the forum which ones are the best. The answer is "it depends" - on where you live, what you enjoy, etc.. You'll need to read the forum and apply with lots of companies to build your own list of best companies. You will find that there are a few (very few) companies that have had issues with shoppers getting paid, etc.. However, most of them are decent to work with.

I can suggest to you that Marketforce (MF) and Corporate Research International (CoRI) are two great companies to get started with. They have some pretty easy shops in most areas and are good about working with new shoppers.

Enjoy!

I should add that, it would be nice for one person to post a kind, informative reply, and then for the rest of us to leave it alone except to say, "Welcome."

Now if they don't heed that advice and whine about unhelpful we are, then all bets are off. smiling smiley

Andrew, that's a good idea. Every new shopper needs a "welcome wagon greeting" providing a little information about how to get around on the forum, find things, post a PM, make a post on a thread, and search out companies. Anyone interested and available can provide their own personal informational welcome, and the rest of us can say "Hi". This will provide for all new shoppers to get a little help when they introduce themselves, and we can take turns with the informational greeting so none of us get overwhelmed.

Stupid question here, but do people really need help to navigate the forum? Things on this site are so darn easy to find and understand already.
