I got recent emails for three low end hotel shops quite near me. Interesting: all three of those hotels were featured in the local weekly paper for this suburban area as having frequent police calls due to drug sales, prostitution, violence and even a couple of recent OD deaths on premises. I'm up for some adventure, but that is a bit much.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.

Add to that the "thrill" of knowing you will not be paid for at least 6 months, and a great time will be had by all! (Especially Freeman himself, as he stays at fancy, 5-star resorts on your loan while you risk house arrest...)

Hello, they pay a little late but they do pay. I just got paid for a shop that I did in Dec so they do pay. If u need the money I would say that u will not get ur money right away and they give u a 5.00 bonus for being late. I love doing the hotel shops. They do pay. Yeh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So hang in there mystery shoppers they pay, just do not be in a hurry for ur money,

Freeman is peppering Austin with recruiting e-mails and they have several hotel shops posted here. The shops look really good to me, EXCEPT *they are Freeman Shops* .... thanks to all who have posted their experience, no way will I take one. Getting paid and reimbursed quickly is pretty important to me, so I try to stay away from "Slow-Pay MSPs" -- - and Freeman sounds like the worst kind of slow-pay/no-pay.

I just thought I'd post the lame excuse they gave the BBB. Here it is

"I am sorry that we lost Merissa's paper work and once she notified us we paid immediately."

Thats SOOO not true. My husband called them and demanded that they pay the money right away because we needed it. Anyways, just thought I'd share. If you didn't get your money just CALL them. Otherwise you are just going to get the biggest run around.

I contacted them today about their payment problems. They state they are currently 8 - 12 weeks behind on payment and blame the economy. I thanked them for their response and removed myself from their current shops.

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.

After reading all the feedbacks in this post, I also removed myself from one current shop. I wish I could find this post earlier so that I wouldn't complete the other shops for them earlier this month.

Being 12 weeks behind on a payment that is already set at 12 weeks for reimbursement on a hotel stay is so ridiculous, it's unfathomable that anyone takes those.

Primarly due to lack of research on the company they are dealing with. That, in itself, makes these forums very valuable...

I think shoppers feel they are getting "in", or paying their dues with a reputable hotel shopping company when they take the Freeman assignments.

Most posters in the forums are rather tight-lipped about hotel shopping MSC info because they want to protect their ability to get assignments for themselves, it seems. That leads to a lot of misconceptions about what is available out there.

Let it be said that staying in these so called "Flea-bag" motels and waiting 6 months for reimbursement is not the road to getting great hotel assignments!

Do good work and show your writing skills for most hospitality MSCs and you will eventually see hotel assignments that actually pay well, and on time!

I had at least 10 e-mails yesterday and the same today touting hotel shops in Austin. I deleted. Maybe everyone else in Austin has gotten smart, too....... you can't keep getting shoppers to do your shops without paying them.

You may have to wait awhile longer for ur payment but they do pay with a $5.00 bonus. I can say so because I am now caught up on all of my shops have been paid for both hotel shop. It was a few months. josi434

I have never worked for them, however, just got an email for a fun tourist type restaurant in the city......I'm so tempted, will be there anyway, and want to go, but after reading this, not sure if I should chance it, would go anyway.....just need to decide today. Which side is the strongest today, optimism or negativty...will let you know if I do it.

My head tells me not to take it, my greed says do it, (big reimbursement), family coming in and want to go , maybe it will change for me.....I read what everyone said, and believe it, so, why am I questioning it.....that old saying, "One has to learn on their own", comes to mind. This is for Mon., or Tues....s___, I'm doing it!!! You can all say, "I told you so", and rub it in.

Actually it takes more than 90 days to get paid for me... My shops was completed in early May and I was informed that I would get paid on or before mid September, sigh!

On the brighter side, Irene, I suspect that ultimately you will get paid, but for the time being it is best to figure you are footing the bill. But realize it may take 6-8 months or more to get paid.

Yea, and when you even *think* about coming here to complain when they do not pay, remember this, ****we have banned complaints about Freeman from those who ignored the warnings and do the job anyway.**** We don't want to hear about it because we all know you know better, but are doing the job despite the fact that you admit you know better.

Maybe we should work on banning comments from people who come on here complaining about people who complain about Freeman. I think at some point they become personal comments that go beyone helping each other out in the mystery shopping world, just saying...I'm sure I'll get blacklisted, banned, and cut off for that, but so be it.
