Re: Whole Foods

Hey everyone-hope everybody is having a good week-end !

Has anyone completed one of the shops for Whole foods, it looks awfully detailed for the money they
are offering. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I do them when I am hungry for a good steak. They ARE awfully detailed. The only saving grace is they give you a "cheat sheet" that you can use disguised as a shopping list to make notes as you go.
Once you have done a couple, they become quite easy. I use them to pick up a few luxury foods and/or subsidize a really good steak.

Agreed. The reimbursement isn't going to fill the cart, but once you know the form, it's a decent value and pretty quick to fill out.

When I used to live where I could walk to 3 Whole Foods, I took them all of the time. It got to a point where I had entered so many, my browser would start to auto-fill answers. I had so many different narratives for bathrooms and such saved that I could usually tab to the appropriate answer and create a fresh report with minimal typing. There are only so many ways to phrase bathroom cleanliness.....

These days it requires a pretty lengthy drive so I would have to be in the area already to consider the shop.
I agree, they're not difficult, but two of the new requirements make the shop less appealing. You have to visit twice, and there's now a set number of items to buy, which is no way covered by the shop payment.
I love Whole Foods and I like the shops. To avoid having to make two trips for one shop. I always make sure I have a small item in the house that I can return when another shop comes up.
I've done that on occasion as well, but the timing doesn't always work out.
I've signed up with 150 msc and never saw a Whole Food shop. Looks like I'll be filling out more applications. :-/

Cubbiecat - it seems like it varies by region because there have been several hints in the past and those hinted-at MSCs definitely don't shop Whole Foods in my area. I contacted Whole Foods in my area directly and they pointed me to their MSC which has never been mentioned here re: Whole Foods, and the MSC they listed doesn't take applications. Still no Whole Foods for me! smiling smiley
The company shopping Whole Foods does vary by region. The requirements of the shop are different depending on which company's instructions you use.
I shop for two different Mystery Shopping companies that serve different WF regions. The shops I complete when I am in the East Coast Region have different requirements, pay and reimbursement rates than the shops I complete in the Mid West Region. In Middle American the pay and reimbursements are more generous. WF is one of my favorite shops; I enjoy their healthy selections. txguitar I find the evaluations worth the shops; it does not take long once you are familiar with the format.

I know that they are shopped here but I just don't know who shops them. I would like to try it out though.

We're getting a Whole Foods store here later this year. Hopefully I'll get to shop it.

I have never seen a Whole Foods shop, but did only one shops for them as a competitor shop for another co. - the samples are GREAT that they offer!
Just did my first one. Really great, didn't take too much time (yes, I spent more than the expense allowance, but hey...I had to buy stuff anyway!) And now I want to do them more often. Yippee. Had to be talked into taking this one on, but I'm glad I did!
I looked at the paperwork then threw it back.

There is no way that what they pay will cover your entire purchase with having to purchase from every department. What am I supposed to do, go the seafood department and ask for one shrimp? Plus their prices recently have gone through the roof; a bag of their labeled dry cat food that was 3.5 pounds was up until this summer 3.49. It is now 5.79. That is a huge increase; its cheaper for me now to buy an 18 pound bag at Target for 13 bucks not on sale.

Not that it matters anymore anyway. After hearing the CEO of Whole Foods complaining the other day I wouldn't spend another dime in that store ever again. Capitalism at its finest; back to Trader Joe's I go.
On Saturday I completed a full store shop. I did not have to purchase from every department. I had to ask a question in each of the assigned departments. Here they also have shops that are less than the full store. The full store shops are my preference when they are available. I always spend the reimbursement and the fee during the shop. The reporting time is generous too; 24 hours. I enjoy this assignment; it is one of my favorites.

You need to have an interaction with an associate in every department. You do not need to make a purchase in every department. Your purchase can be anything you want, one item or several items.
The new shops in my area do require a purchase from each of the specified departments, as well as a specific number of items in total.
Oh, gag! I hope they don't start that in my area. It would SO not be an attractive shop anymore!
There's also another component, which was mentioned earlier in the thread. When they say the shop is designed for regular WF shoppers, they mean it!
sigh. It's so expensive I only shop there when I get paid to shop there.
Austinmom: Here it is every department you need to purchase from. If it was just an interaction like the regular grocery store shops I do I would do these in a heartbeat. And you have to buy something earlier and return it. I hate P/R to begin with so I was already leery and then I saw purchase in every department and threw it right back.

Evidently its a big problem for them to schedule it around here; it was bonused 50 bucks last weekend.
I rejected the first few that came my way, and one was a heavily bonused. However, once I found out I could return something purchased from a different location, it became more appealing. That said, I still think the number of stipulations are ridiculous. I actually better understand the reasoning behind purchasing an item from an interaction department than I do the specific number of items. And cost-wise, that's the real killer. Not to mention, there is absolutely no reason for that in terms of maintaining the mystery persona.
I do about three a month and found it really gets easier the more you do them. I love them and am able to pick up some nice goodies and the report is a breeze. They go fast here, definitely worth the 19.00.

Live consciously....
Apparently though, Irene, you and I are lucky. The report in our locations sounds like the easier version.
I thought the reports were all the same?????

Live consciously....
Huh, the MSC I shop them through has a number of states listed, but apparently doesn't shop them all. I shop the "easy" version of the report, I guess. No return or item count, at least as of last month.

The shops are a bit more time-consuming, but not hard. I had to ditch the shopping list though... once you trifold that much paper it becomes cumbersome. I can do cliffnotes in my chicken scratch and it looks much more like a real shopping list!

If I end up with the 'purchase from each department' version, I guess I will be done... the beauty of the WF shops for me is the ability to retrieve speciality foods that no one else carries, but as a vegetarian, I have no need for meat or seafood. I just keep 'budgeting for a party' but one of these days I will need a new scheme!
Is Whole Food shopped by a sassie company? I've signed up with over 150 msc, but have never seen the WF shop, except for the Sushi vendor.
Is WF shopped in Florida?
