Overlooked the list of Kroger stores closing that shopperbob shared. In my area, it looks like Market Street and Tom Thumb are affected. I never really had a preference to shop at Market Street, but I remember doing a Boar's Head run earlier, thinking a lot of these Market Street are in redundant areas. Convenient for routes, but not ideal for business.
All of the Market Street set to close are in a specific area where HEB has taken over. I know HEB has done some extensive competitor studies before moving in, even though they had a presence with Central Market in other areas before.
Some of the Tom Thumbs closing seem to have one common factor. A Sprouts is located nearby.
