krogers

Two FYIs for kroger shoppers.

1 - there's a nestle rebate of spend $40 get $20. I didn't see too much of interest but it could be interesting for a pickup shops.

2 - I am consistently being overcharged for CRV fees. We have a sparkling water addiction and I've noticed double or triple charges for CRV fees. If you happen to buy bottled or canned items, check and make sure you're not being overcharged.

Nestle sells nothing I'm likely to purchase. I already have the tollhouse cookie recipe, and there are much better chocolate morsels to use. So that rebate is going to be lost on me, and AL doesn't have CRV fees, nor do we have any kind of recycling program. The cool thing, if you can afford to put in that kind of effort, our neighboring state does have CRV and an effective recycling program, so if you have a pickup truck I think there could be money to be made collecting aluminum here and recycling it over there.
Nestle owns many brands - here's a link to the rebate

Thanks for that, there are probably some things that I can buy but I wouldn't buy $40 in one order anyways.
For the first time, my pickup order was completely missing an item. At least I get reimbursed for it even if it wasn't in the bag. The website says if you are missing an item you have to call. I didn't want to do that. It was not something I absolutely needed.

Wow, you weren't able to request a refund? You could try the email them option under help. Although I'm not completely sure they'd respond.
I've had several delays and one cancellation. Most of the delays were due to a system failure. The cancelation was that the store had none of my items that I ordered.

Do not read so much, look about you and think of what you see there.

Because it's the location closest to my house, I don't want to risk being flagged. I am not out of pocket, just out of sliced ham, lol...

That makes sense. I’ve wanted to tread lightly with my close ones too.
Today I was able to go in online and request a refund, one of the choices is "Item Not Received". I guess it will post back to my credit card.

I completed my first Kroger job 18 yrs. ago today. Two days ago, though, I experienced a first.

My shop was, as are all, self-scan, but when I requested assistance from the attendant concerning an error, she was unable to correct the listing. She then asked me to follow her to her kiosk, where she adjusted my bill. The following day, my assignment was still "in process," so I checked the receipt and sure enough it did not have the CHEC letters; it was her name. I contacted scheduler Jenn Barrick, who confirmed the MSC was considering the job as full service and unacceptable. After she contacted them with my explanation, the work was accepted.

I have no idea what I could say. in the future, to prevent a worker from employing his/her station to correct an amount due. Attempting to stop anyone would not be an action a typical shopper would consider; in my case the amount was $6+. It has been my experience that sale items are occasionally not adjusted in their system.

Any thoughts?

Hey Bob, this has happened to me a couple of times in the past. While I was scanning my items, the screen went wonky or froze up. Both times the attendant took my items to their terminal, and sure enough the receipt showed as a full service, with the cashier’s name. I wrote a short note at the end of the form where it asks if there were any receipt issues and explained what happened. Both were immediately approved.

I believe this happened to me once a while ago. Not exactly the same with a technical/machine error, but a price adjustment was needed. Usually, the self-checkout associate will just override it and need a manager's barcode to scan. But I think it was busy that day, and the self-checkout associate said that I can pay and checkout for now. She then processed a refund at her kiosk for the difference and gave me cash. I still had my initial receipt intact.
chicago area kroger shoppers have something to keep an eye out for if the albertsons/kroger merger goes through.

I wonder how many "food deserts" this will create...

I regularly shop 3 of those locations for both pick up and in store...
Would suck to lose them, but there are so many it's not that big of a deal.

None for the ones listed..... MANY grocery stores nearby.

Their costs will be lower. I don't expect their prices to be lower.
While scanning a shelf during a Kroger job today, an elderly lady engaged me in conversation. She inquired as to why I was not using my SmartPhone and then showed me her screen. As she scrolled, she pointed out at least six items that literally showed FREE. Have I been missing something? I related this to the self scan attendant, but she was not aware of these FREE items. I have been availing myself of the digital discount,

Please share, as I could be assisting a food bank.

Was this the Kroger app she was showing you? Or one of those cash back apps like Ibotta? I know I regularly get emails or notifications of a free item or two just about every week from Kroger, but I also occasionally get free items using the Ibotta app. Well with Ibotta, the item doesn't ring up as free, but the amount paid gets put into your account when you upload your receipt.
Thanks Hamp. I do not have any idea what was involved, but your explanation explains why the attendant was clueless concerning these FREE items. I will, though, continue to investigate this matter

As anyone who has read my posts knows, I am a fan of adages. The one that pops into my mind for this situation is "If it sounds too good to be true, it is usually is."

Are they for sure closing, though? I took this to mean those locations were being sold to another company. Whether they close them or rebrand them remains to be seen, I guess...

Sorry if I should have started a new topic, but this thread seems to have taken a life of its own....
Does anyone else get badgered by aggressive internet service salespeople while doing your in-store shops? Tips for avoiding them or getting them to back off quickly?

I've never had this happen. Do store personnel know they're there?

As soon as they start their spiel, cut them off and tell them you're just visiting the area and staying in a hotel. That should be the end of it. If they ask where you live, tell them Denmark.

I'm sure they are authorized to be there. They often have a table set up. Some of them are very persistent. I bite my tongue to avoid raising attention to myself.
A firm "no thank you" as you keep walking would also work. It's your time; don't allow them to hijack it.

This has been my experience with the Kroger app, as well. On the Savings section, there's also a Cash Back section. Some years ago, it would mirror all of the iBotta deals, where you could double dip on iBotta and Kroger Cash Back. But these days, I think the Kroger Cash Back are limited and not as worthwhile.

shopperbob, you mentioned scanning a shelf. Were you scanning item barcodes in the aisles? I know some customers use Shopkick to scan item barcodes to earn "kicks" (points), but you don't get anything free. Once you have enough kicks though, you can redeem for gift cards.

I tell them that I am already a customer. Their first question is usually, who is your internet provider? I reply the company that they're working for, and then subsequently fist bump them on my merry way past them. To note, some of these sales interactions used to be shopped.

Editing to add, the salespeople usually have a time when their shift ends and have to be out. I want to say it's around 6 PM.

I tell them I have starlink. Lol.
Okie, I was scanning with my eyes, looking for the unsalted mixed nuts I prefer.

Doggie, I agree with your comment of re-branding, as I think that is more probable.
