RBG needs to think things through a tad better...

Was able to snag one of their higher-end Hawaiian Cooking Method shops. Usually they are scooped up by the time I read the email solicitation.

The shop requires a call in advance to make a reservation, so I did it, completing the fields in the SASSIE report in realtime.

Only one problem... the report is set up so nothing can be saved until the actual shop date.

Thanks for the time waster, RBG!

I've had that happen with other shops. I fill out the form as you did, then print or screen shot it--makes it very easy to (re)fill in on the allowed date.

I did the same the other day. I wrote several paragraphs at the box in the bottom of the shop that was for any notes to the editor. Then I searched for the save button and there was none. Poof, it was all gone. So much for prefilling that question ahead of time.

I was just coming here to say, put narratives on a Word document and paste it in when it's time.
There are ways to open the Sassie form ahead of time so that you can pre-fill reservation info etc. It has to be done by the MSC. Most of the time, they won’t bother to help you.
My M. Ed. specialization is Distance Learning.

Or, in other words, best practices when it comes to capturing and displaying data in online environments.

Allowing users to save data entered into an online form so that additional data entry can be continued later meets best practices.

Requiring users to copy data posted into an online form and save it to a document so that it can be reposted into the online form later does not.

It's not even close.

Even though I am pretty unhappy with RBG right now, this is really more of a SASSIE thing than an RBG thing.
That was my big gripe with the car shops from Intelli-shop. You can only fill it out on the day of the shop, but all the pre-work/screenshots beforehand cannot be entered early. I learned that the hard way and uploaded a bunch of stuff without having the ability to save.

I disagree. I believe it is the WAY RBG puts the shop due date into SASSIE that causes the problem, not SASSIE itself.

I've had plenty of shops in SASSIE that have allowed me to fill out information prior to the actual due date.

I'm going to disagree.

As wrosie pointed out, many other MSCs on SASSIE allow data to be entered and saved in advance of the due date of the shop. Pretty sure each MSC sets the parameters that apply to their particular reports.

FWIS, this is squarely on RBG. The shop requires an action prior to the submit date of the report. As such, best practices dictate the report should be open for data entry in advance of the submit date.
