Are absolutely sure it came from Secret Shopper? I didn't get the e-mail and I do shops for them almost monthly. I just got a call from a scheduler which has never happened to me before.
Your photo ID and a voided check would allow them to commit fraud by making a fake ID by just changing the photo.
They do have their own funky website. But in the past I put my information into the MSCs website after signing in.

I would wait. Better be safe than sorry.
I logged into their website this morning, using my regular login to do so (not the one in the email...just in case!) As of this morning, it's on the home page after you log in, at the top. Here is what it says on their web site (italics mine):@HonnyBrown wrote:
I was on their site last week to cancel a shop. I saw no mention of direct deposit being offered.

What if I don't have either checks or deposit slips?
I use a debit card and use the bank's app to deposit checks.

I got the email as well a few days ago. Since you are doing it on their website which you logged into directly and not thru a link I don't see why it would not be safe. They already have your ssn if you have ever worked for them. Many places ask for a voided check or something like that. They would need your account information to direct deposit your funds. There may still be an option for paper checks though.

It's simple, really. They are offering direct deposit as an option. Go with your gut. If you don't feel comfortable giving them what they are asking for, don't choose direct deposit.
Would you feel more comfortable giving them an altered copy of your photo ID? You could add a watermark or alter the image in another way that would (1) still clearly identify you, but (2) make it difficult for someone to make a fake ID out of the image.

I think that they're offering this feature based on your shopper level in their system. Both my husband and I shop for this company. He is one level above me and received the email whereas I did not receive the email or notice. He hasn't recently rescheduled a shop whereas I've had a few reschedules in the last couple of months.
If this is the case, I think it's kind of crummy to allow one set of shoppers the "privilege" of receiving direct deposit whereas other shoppers are forced to receive the paper checks. It should be a universal feature especially since I get wary of checks getting lost in the mail.
I would be surprised if they emailed shoppers based on any sort of shopper level, because I got the email and I do VERY FEW shops for them! Maybe....MAYBE 3-4 a year, and that might be stretching it. Maybe they based it on IP addresses, and since the two of you have the same IP address, they only saw a need to send it out once...just guessing.@ccc_89 wrote:
