See Level $1.00 e-Mail Shop Task

A SeeLevel scheduler has sent an additional email blast for this $1.00 task. In bright green highlight it mentions that it's 100% anonymous, no personal information is given or requested, and that they're setting them up for shoppers to use for an additional assignment starting Friday. And "it's a completely internal project".

This is from the scheduler who sent a previous email about it being a 15 second task. Which certainly is not accurate. It takes longer than that to create a fake name while creating an email account and then emailing See Level the password for the account as part of the sales transaction. Which by the way is a clear violation of the Terms of Service for this email provider.

An additional inaccuracy, LIE, is that it's 100% anonymous, LOL! Those who use an android device for most shops already know this. You'll need to manually disassociate the newy created fake email account from your other email accounts on your device. THEY ARE ALL ASSOCIATED. The email provider only knows about you changing the password, not that you voilated their ToS and SOLD the account. If you did the task on desktop/laptop it's still NOT 100% anonymous, the email provider has your IP address, location, and is aware of the other non fake accounts you may have. Assuming this is not a 2 part job task for one shopper, the other shopper who logs into this newly created account might get the verification screen that says "we noticed you're logging in from a new location" or "we noticed you're logging in from a new device". There's also a legitimate way to reclaim that email account. It would be interesting to know what is being sent to these emails and if it's businness/employment related as stated in the original email sent from the scheduler.

Can't wait to see what's coming up on Friday. A new $1.00 shop for the creation of a FAKE address within the shoppers IP address, zip code or general location? And then what? Another $1.00 shop for filling out online forms with the fake name?

The inaccuracies in the job description and the clear violation of another companies Terms of Service for their own monetary gain makes me suspicious of their business practices. This is not in line with how I do business as an Independent Contractor nor how I conduct myself in personal matters. And the measly $1.00 offering to make up a fake name on an email account and asking me to violate another companies ToS shows how much SeeLevel values me as an IC.

If it is for internal purposes, it might be related to the client's project. You know the $2-3K per month. I do not think they violate any TOS for the email provider.

A few thoughts on this “assignment:”

1. Google’s legal team is well-paid and would be happy to pounce ALL over SeeLevel. Paying $1.00 per Gmail account is a clear violation of Google’s TOS. I would never risk it.

2. This is exactly the type of assignment that makes mystery shopping look sketchy and fraudulent. SeeLevel’s request for its ICs to break
Google’s TOS is bad for the industry.

.

Based on the nationwide SeeLevel shops for the last 3 yrs, they will never do anything fraudulent against the Alphabet company. Food, face, walk. Hint, hint!

Google will always know where the email address originated.
I wonder about changes if/once the Intouch Insight deal goes through.

They offer a project for shoppers that they pay $2-3k per month? Please explain!

All this talk of the propriety of the shop misses what I take to be another issue of propriety - viz. offering any shop whatsoever for fee that won't even buy a soda at most places. Straight to the trashcan where all insulting fee offers go.
How do you know who the assignment is for ? Maybe for Google ?? It took you longer to write your "book" about it !! One minute and 23 seconds to create the gmail account. I would have done 100 of these, if allowed !!

I am not going to categorize your opinion. Everyone is entitled to one. People do shops for different reasons. Some people are caretakers for relatives of all ages and have to spent long time at home, or are elderly, have mobility issues, etc so they only do phone shops, online, etc. For others, even $1 is important when you are on limited income. Other people are on areas with limited shop opportunities so everything counts.
Right there with you passed that up
OK. Did the shop FIVE days ago, and still sitting as "Completed." I want my dollar...
I remember having to set up a g-mail account for some reason for some MSC. It took me hours (tech challenged here!), and I think I finally had to call someone else and have them set it up for me.

Now I'm stuck with it forever....

If you did the food ordering shops, or the face ones that you turned on and off the phone daily, or even if you have an android phone then you needed a gmail account.
