Companies you REFUSE to Shop For

I also have worked for Bare for years maintaining a 9/10. I did a Post ready shop and paid cash...ooops! They have never assigned me another P.O. shop since then (4 months now), think that is a little unbendable. I see a change in them....

I find that interesting. I always pay cash and have never had a problem. I suspect there may be other reasons...winking smiley

Just to clarify a bit, wiretapping is usually considered to be a covert recording by a 3rd party and the laws are pretty strict. For telephone recordings between two parties, the laws vary from state to state. Federal law and most states only require consent from one party, but there are about 12 states that require consent from both parties.

Of course, you should do what you are comfortable doing, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that!

Klassy,
You are correct about the difference between wiretapping and recording a conversation to which you are a party.

The number of states that require two party consent for audio recording is 14. 36 states and DC do not require second party consent.

I could be wrong, but I thought you had to use cash for those.

My other question is--if you are an employee, is it possible that something was signed when you were hired stating that you agree to be recorded? Thinking about those "this call may be recorded" disclaimers when you call in somewhere. When I worked at a call center, I expected to be monitored.

(I may well be unclear on the concept here . . . )

There is a "business extension" exception to Federal wiretapping laws that allows companies to monitor any phone calls made on their equipment, as long as they notify both the employees & customers that it's being done. The recorded message is an acceptable method of gaining implied consent for the phone recording (check out the FCC website). The concept is that if one person doesn't agree, then they can always hang up (or quit! lol). Also, in today's digital age, most companies have some sort of language in their employee manuals or other docs stating that any emails, phone calls, or other electronic contacts using company equipment can be considered the property of the company, and as such, are subject to monitoring. Of course, they're supposed to stop listening once it's apparent the call is personal in nature...

I thought this was a thread for Companies you Refuse to Shop For. Guess someone got mixed up.
Conversations, both face-to-face and electronic, regularly stray, but come back to the point at hand.
I agree with TechSavvy--but I also think that from my own perspective, knowing if what you are doing is actually legal is very MUCH relevant to whether you are willing to shop for a company or not. Just my two cents' worth . . .
I totally agree, but maybe you should do some homework before making assumptions on what is legal and what is illegal.

That's strange because I've always used cash for their USPS shops, which I don't do anymore because of their reports. I just wish the USPS shops were with the original company I shopped them for...they paid more and the report itself was a whole lot easier and quicker to do.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart..."
The new round of the postal shops allows you to use a card, although cash is still preferred.
In the last 3 months, I have had two separate instance with KSS Kern Scheduling where they had the wrong paperwork for a shop and when I queried it they said to go ahead with the guidelines then altered them afterwards and did not pay me for the shops, saying in one case, I had used the wrong paperwork and in the second case that did not read it properly. I had copies of the original paperwork and When I tried to contact the scheduler by email and enquired about it, they never replied and ignored the problem. Now I am always worried the same thing could happen again. In the past I did many shops for them and got paid Okay. Is there something new going on with them now. mrcccc

I agree about Franchise Compliance, I had to call the local franchise office and the corporate office. It took four months for payment and it too was dated several weeks before actually being sent.
Just curious why, Marijaldm. I have had good experiences with them. The pay isn't always great, but the shops are simple to report and they pay like clockwork.
My apologies to you and Service Excellence. My quick reply demonstrates that I can't do two things at once.I saw my reply fly by, couldn't stop it, glad you asked. I like them as well.

I took a mileage PAD and combined it with other bonused shops on a route. The Kentucky Duck audit took me less than half an hour and I had the little chicken sandwich to go with the Baja Blue Mountain Dew from an audit down the street.

GFK! It took forever for them to respond to me, after numerous applicatons, then I could not get through that quiz (I always miseed like one question). So, I ask them to reset for me, if not, then feel free to cancel my account. I also called, now, no call back. I'm sure they are a respectable company, however their communication is horrible.
I asked Bare about the use of a card for those shipping assignments and received a reply saying debit cards are acceptable. So, no credit cards?
I've been fortunate and I don't haven't had any companies I won't shop for. Just a note for those folks that have problems getting paid. I've discovered that if I mentioned that I will be filing a complaint with my state's attorney general's office that gets things moving very fast. (I've done that with other non MS companies.)
I actually got that turned around, I was short .50, so put it on my CC and report wasn't accepted.....computer101 Wrote:

Live consciously....
I meant to say, I was .50 cash short so used my CC and shop was rejected.

Live consciously....
I have found myself short a couple of times with BARE and have never been rejected for using the credit card. The new guidelines say that they prefer cash.
Palm Scheduling. I say beware. I will try to be succint. I did a low paying optical shop for them last month only because I had 2 other good paying shops at this mall. I had major trouble w/ their reporting site and finally gave up. Did not contact them- my bad. However got a message a week later and I explained the circumstances in detail and said I had notes and could still submit. I was told it was too late to submit but could do the shop over and get paid. I said I would get back to them. A few days later I got an e-mail saying - what? you
agreed to do this shop and never did it!!! exclamation marks and all.
I wrote back again going over the details and reminding this person(the owner by the way) of our correspondence. She wrote back in all caps Do not contact this company again.
It was all very unprofessional and wacky. Never experienced any thing like it. Let me know of any similar experiences w/ them.
thanks, cyn
Cynb - I haven't worked with Palm Scheduling, but I think we can quote that guy in Cool Hand Luke who said "what we have here is a failure to communicate".

You're right about your bad not getting in touch with them when you couldn't upload the first report. This created the first doubt on their part.

I believe they thought they made a generous offer for you to do the shop again, and when you said "I'll get back to you", they thought you meant you would do it over and submit a report. When they didn't get the expected second report, they were frustrated beyond going forward.

This is not meant as a criticism of you or them. I'm just trying to break down exactly what might have happened here on each end.

This looks like a total misunderstanding by both parties regarding the second shop. I'm afraid this short romance is over. Thanks for sharing your unfortunate experience. It's a learning moment for all of us, for sure.

So glad I didn't take that pool shop. the store is the size of a bathroom and a half, or a medium sized shed. That would've been horrid staying in there for so long.

A bit restrained about taking certain shop with BARE...not about the shop itself, or doing it...but reading all these things. On the second shop, it says 5 foot tall and up. I am 5 foot tall. I never considered myself too short to ride a ... the item, (Not trying to go against rules, so you get the picture.). I have a few more with that MSC. I'll keep you guys posted.

when I got back into this, I just wanted enough extra money to pay for my yoga classes, and what ever else. But I can do the smaller pay shops 9.00-15.00. The payday shop was weird but fun. Today's shop, fun.

Yesterday I did one where I had to call first, and the call was from the computer. The shop itself was a measely little branch of some place. I will never do another one where you call from the computer first...Ever. I would hate to be the person on the other end answering. How do I know if the msc really has permission to do that? I questioned the legalities of that one.

I did do one thing today, I hit the back button twice on a sign up test, and locked myself out of an msc, I emailed them. Whatever. The thing is, there's 50 others.

I've worked with MF since 2007, on and off. I don't like one of their clients, uh, food products and will never eat that. But they have other quick shops around here. I think I have a few of the nonfood clients this week.
Beware pool shop
if you report the truth of no music they will not pay.
I was so tempted to sign up for it...then I read "20 minutes." huh? You go in, you buy chlorine or a swim ring or filter part, you leave. I used to own a pool, my neighbor owns a pool. No problem on what to get, but 20 minutes? nope.
