You did not read my post accurately. I said that I did a Marriott shop for another MSC, so I did not mention them in the same post.
The shops are re-issues if the hotel failed the loyalty portion of the larger assignment, I think...but IF you get the upgrade, it seems to be perpetual....
Is it part of the brand audit or not? The top description says it is but the important notice at the bottom says it’s not. Weird.
It looks like they separated the loyalty audit portions from the brand audit on some properties.
The last hotel assignment I performed was brand audit without loyalty and they told me it was because the hotel already passed the loyalty portion, so I assume these new ones are the opposite of that....

I was lucky and got the upgrade through February 2021. But SteveSoCal or others, how did you handle the business about declining the suite upgrade upon check-in?
@DrTerminus there are very few instances where you can realistically decline it. Most of the time they just say, "We have a nice suite for you," and I have not had any pushback on accepting it, unless it came to a bedding issue (most of the suites are king beds). I have declined the suite when staying with a friend and we wanted 2 beds. When a suite is not ready, they are supposed to offer you the best available room that is currently ready, and I have always just gone with that, so those are the only times I have declined.
Thanks. In my experience, that’s how it is presented in real life, too, which is to say that they inform you that you have been upgraded. I thought maybe you were supposed to then ask for a downgrade, so I’m glad to hear that unless they specifically ask if I want to be upgraded, which seems unlikely, it will be OK to accept. I believe you are technically supposed to ask for a downgrade, but I decided early on that was ridiculous and potentially the biggest giveaway, ever...so I just never did, and have never gotten any pushback about it.
I would suggest to anyone doing these at the highest tier to have a back-story about where you usually stay and why you stay so many nights as well. Often, the desk agent will bring a hotel manager over to meet you at check-in. I just did my last one for the year yesterday and the manager had a note in my reservation to have the agent call them when I checked in. They upgraded me to a suite well beyond what is even required for the status, and it ended up in a long conversation about where I normally stay.
Since all of the current round of assignments are re-shops, that means the hotels failed the first tine around and will be on the lookout for a shopper in the next month or two. The room was amazing, but they still missed 2 items from the checklist, so it wasn't exactly a slam dunk if they suspected me....

Well...I think they may be using the perpetual setting to apply the status, but they also have the ability to deactivate it. As long as Coyle maintains the client, the status may remain.

Interesting I did this shop for a different company though. Kind of waiting for the shoe to drop to see how long it get it for.

How do you know when your upgrade ends? Does it say somewhere?

@speedoflife if you log in to your account for that program, it will tell you the expiration date for your status. Most airline and hotel programs reset the end of February the following year, and in most cases I have had to have to one again request my status be upgraded for assignments.
For the current loyalty program being evaluated, my status remained past the expiration date this year, though. If it continues into March of next year and lists the valid date through 2021, I will assume the status has been permanently upgraded.

As SteveSoCal mentioned, on my hotel loyalty account page, it indicates how long my status will remain. My status for two hotel loyalty programs is due to end early next year, so it will be interesting to see if it remains or not.

My Marriott titanium status, again done for a different MSC, was supposed to end 2/29, but it continues so far. I'm checking daily to see if that disappears, but so far, it hasn't. Unlike the hotel loyalty program of this thread, there is no expiration date listed.

To confirm, you were upgraded to Titanium by the MSC? Did you hold status prior, like upgraded from Platinum to Titanium?
If so, feeling the FOMO, as I only got upgraded to Platinum.
No, I was upgraded to Platinum, but when Marriott merged with Starwood, all Platinums became Titaniums, so I've been Titanium since then. I've since seen some assignments requiring Platinum and some Titanium, so if you got one of the Titaniums, presumably you would be upgraded by the MSC. It's been over two years since I did the shop for them.
My status adjust down one level (to my actual deserved status) on the first of March

Marriott's timing was not great, but apparently they did all their elite status downgrades yesterday, and I was one of the victims. Oh, well. It was a good run while it lasted. I'll have to apply for another hotel shops when they are posted again.
