What is your take on Hilli Dunlap?

What are your opinions or experiences on Hilli Dunlap Enterprises?

There is a local shop available in my area. However when I Google the company, there seems to be no positive statements on it. I noticed that the dates on the comments are rather old. Is the company still the same or has it improved?

Thanks.

Wow, now there is a "Blast from the Past"! For a long time they were a favorite with a number of shoppers. Around 2006-2007 they were slow paying, sometimes to the point of absurdity. I believe they changed their name somewhere along in there as well, though I don't remember if ownership changed. I haven't heard any shoppers working with them for a long time so have no idea about their current financial health and organization.

If you decide to do a job for them, please let us know if payment was made as promised.

Well I shall be the guinea pig. I am going for a restaurant shop that reimburses $7 so that is what I will put out. Maybe after they pay, I shall decide to go for another shop.
And of course the common sense used with any new-to-you company applies . . . don't be out of pocket large amounts anticipating reimbursement until you have worked with them through several pay cycles that have been met in a timely fashion. If a company begins being 'sloppy' about timely payment, limit the number of shops/amount they owe you at any given time to what you can afford to lose. It is annoying to lose $50, it can be devastating to lose $150.
I have done two telephone shops for them recently. Payment was timely. It came from Dunlap Enterprises.
Three months later and payment was received via Paypal.
It took them ***3 months*** to pay $7? There's a huge red flag waving.

Lost $60 in 2005 due to stated internal accounting problems. Many shoppers did. Some shoppers were paid back, some were not. I was not. Too risky for me, regardless of the many new names/domaines that the company has assumed.
They Told me way back when (in the late nineties) "Oh, we don't hire professional shoppers" That if you worked for other companies you couldn't work for them. Typical stuckup Beverly Hill Type Snob I talked to on the phone.
I've been trying to get paid for some oil change shops since June. I was told in September that I'd be paid the next week. Still haven't got it. The phone number is nowdisconnected. They have not returned numerous e-mails. They have a d- rating with the BBB for not paying people. I'm local to them. I went by their address on Laurel Canyon in North Hollywood and they are not there.
They are still posting assignments through job slinger reachout.
And they have finally started sending me email notifications of shops. I've been registered with them for years with not a peep, so I assume they are having issues finding shoppers.
I was finally paid by them after sending emails to everyone I could get an email for. They had owned me for several shops I did back in February and March and finally paid me in October. I still get emails for their shops so I assume they are still getting shoppers.
Can someone post their email contact information? This company sucks. I have been sending emails to get paid for months with no response. I can't find any other contact information.

Thanks
Although my recent solicitations have been generated through SASSIE, the return email is ddemos@dunlapenterprises.com. Recognize that this is likely to be just a scheduler, but they may be able to help you. Also, this is a SASSIE company, so have you tried using the 'Help/Contact' on your shop log for the shop(s) in question?

Same thing here! I just got my first email offer from them today after being signed up with them since way before their big debacle years ago. I've never worked for them and don't plan on starting.
I just performed two easy automotive shops with this company within the past 10 days. It is way too early for payment but I will try to keep you updated.

I must say that I have had good e-mail communication with them and when I had an issue with one of the shops and left a voicemail message, I did receive a return phone call the following day. The man on the phone was friendly and professional and thanked me for being a shopper for them.

I am new to Mystery Shopping (August 2011) so I wasn't aware of any negative history. Now that I have found this board, I am trying to read posts and research the MSC prior to applying to them. :-)

I'm in FL and started about a month ago. Great people here, and of greatest use other than them is the official list. I read that someone likes Company A, I look them up on the list and read through past threads, then (aherm, if applicable) I click right through on the link provided so I don't have to mess around Google'ing it and apply!.

I am still waiting for payment on a shop done more than a year ago, as well as reimbursement for the Paypal fee I was charged when the company sent a super late payment to me.

The company has not responded to numerous emails.

I don't have a number for them. Please email it to me. (Thanks!)

Maybe, hopefully, they have turned things around.

Goodluck.
ijdk - Their phone number is: 818-760-7688. If you have to leave a message, keep it short and sweet. Say that you have a question about a shop and I am sure you will get a return call. If you leave an angry message regarding payment, who knows! Just my opinion. :-)

Thanks - I will call about the fees and missing payment. smiling smiley
This shop is awesome, if you enjoy working for absolutely free. sad smiley
They suck!! I did a telephone shop for them over four months ago for a small fee, scored a 10 on the shop, and I still have not been paid. The schedulers don't respond to email and no one returns your call. Avoid the drama and select a more reputable company.
ijdk - Any luck reaching someone by phone? I performed two shops for them in October on the 19th and 27th. I have not received payment yet but I know they are slow payers. I have not received a grade or any comments on my two shops though. That might be a bad sign. :-(

Slow/no payers since at least 2005. You have a 50% chance of being paid at all. I have always advocated that the MSPA, etc. hire an attorney for which participants contribute a nominal annual fee to handle these deadbeat companies on our behalf. This could be done individually or as class action lawsuits (such as what could have happened with Consumer Feedback Network). No luck with that. I mostly advocated for this through Volition. Hmmm. Your choices are: keep working for them and hope for the best, stop working for them and hope for the best or file a small claims lawsuit. Sorry for your woes.
I wanted to let everybody know that I just received payment from HDE on a shop from January. Emails went unanswered and phone calls just resulted in runaround, repetitive conversations but oddly enough a complaint with the BBB got me my long overdue payment. They had the nerve to act like my nonpayment was an isolated incident in their complaint rebuttal, but whatever. I am so glad to be done with them and put this negative experience behind me. I will never work for them again and urge everyone else to steer clear as well - just not worth the headache.
Love it! Did you file the complaint online?
I did. It was quick, easy, and did not cost anything. HDE did not respond to the BBB's multiple letters but then I received payment after the case had been closed. They then sent a rebuttal response indicating that they paid me.
FLASH, I agree about the blast from the past. I did jobs for them around 2000 and got stiffed for the money that they owed.
I would in no way recommend them to anyone!
