ATH - Pending shops for days on end

Is anyone else having a problem with shops sitting in "pending" for days on end? Usually, when I apply for shops, I am assigned quickly. Bummer, because I could've completed five shops this week, but they're still sitting in"pending" and they're still listed on the board.

I heard pending also means taken and they will disappear after another shopper completes them. Or if they are flaked the next one in line would get them from pending.

Maybe you're right, but if they assigned to another shopper, I don't want to be a "back up" at the last minute. I just went ahead and deleted all my "pending" apps.
