Medicare shops

I did one a few years ago - a presentation at a seniors' center. The agent showed up 15 minutes late. When she did arrive, she dumped a stack of flyers and brochures on a table and said "Now, who wants ice cream sundaes?" She unpacked several grocery bags, which were filled with cartons of ice cream, paper bowls, etc. One of the people who had been waiting asked if she was going to make her presentation. She said, "Nah, but if you want more information, take a flyer." I waited awhile longer and sure enough, all she did was scoop ice cream.

I would definitely tell your daughter to check with her own employer. I have not heard of this rule but rules change so swiftly sometimes you just don't know...And as my sister in law said when she retired at 55, once our generation is gone the people who know a little or a lot about a lot will be gone. I have seen this all too often with younger workers. I do not think it is necessarily their age but employers seem now to want everyone to be a specialist in one small segment of their world so employees have no idea what is going on at the desk right next to them. My son stopped his health insurance and came back onto my own as it was cheaper. No problem at all. And he lives in Mass where they have mandatory insurance. The HR rep at my work told me I could not get the state funded Family Leave when my mom was very ill unless I took off full time. I did not apply as I wanted to work on the days I could so I just used my own accumulated leave time. Several months later when I decided it was near the end of her life I got the application and filled it out so I could spend every day with her. It clearly asked on question #6...do you want to take full time leave or part time leave. Huh? Fortunately when I told the state representative what had happened to me she backdated my application for 6 mos so I was able to recoup my personal time off days.
I just completed a bonus kiosk shop from $15 to $30. This is on the most current guideline. The shop is easy and so is the report.

I have not worked for TS for years since I could never get my scans to fit their small size requirement, but now I am feeling the pinch to find out about Medicare which is looming in my future. Due to not working for them I have not been following the "thousand" page EIN thread...without reading the whole thing...do I actually need to get an EIN to do a job for them? I seem to recall that some were saying they were not enforcing that however that was a while ago. And if anyone else had trouble with sizing of scans for them, has this gotten any better? Could just be my weird scan program???
I've never had an issue sizing pics or scans using Microsoft Office Picture Manager. I rarely scan things these days since it is easier to photograph everything with either my regular camera or my phone.

I was just going to say the ones I saw are only paying $15 for the full presentation...no way no how.....
Who is paying so little for those?

$15...I saw that for the kiosks and the sit thru the presentation thing was $21. Meet with a person at your house was $30 or so. I would only do the kiosk if it happened to be a block or two from where I would be anyway. Driving, parking and walking in this town takes up more than $15 of my time without the report and memorizing required on top of that.
There is a msc that pays $20 for the formal presentation. The insurance company gives away $10 supermarket gift cards for attending. Ms'er are not allowed to take the gift card and our spouse/friend are not allow to attend and take the gift card. Doing the simple math, it would be cheaper for me to attend with my spouse and get $20 in gift card, then to do the shop for $20 to be paid in 60 days and write a 40 minute report. What were they thinking???

Open enrollment for these plans are about to begin and anyone who wants to change their current Medicare provider has until December 7 to do so. I have done these shops for three different companies. Two of the companies have you test, certify or re-certify when there have been changes in the laws, from year to year.

When I tried to sign up for a shop today, due next week, I received a notice that I had to take the exam. After I reviewed the materials for the test, I could not locate the link for the test, as indicated in the materials. Funny thing was, when I closed the file, the shop description reappeared and I was able to request the shop.

I enjoy doing these shops each year; they keep me abreast of health care changes. There are wide pay ranges for these shops; from $15 to $55. This summer I did a, one to one, shop that reimbursed $70 with the assigned bonus.
Good morning,

Well doing all the one on one, kiosk and presentations it worked out for me on a personal level. I changed my Medicare Advantage plan to a better plan. Yay!

The best plan of all is not to mess with those Medicare Advantage plans at all unless you are dirt poor and have too.

Hi, I am confused....I am on Medicare and having Medicare Advantage offers more than Medicare. And, I am not dirt poor and the other choice I have is Medicare.... I don't get your comment. Thanks
Hello, do you know if there are any of the Medicare shops in Oregon, or Washington?
If you sign up with the company mentioned, you will then be able to see their job board. The shops are ordered by the individual insurance companies and these plans tend to be regional.
