To all those who have bashed the idea of a church shop your loss of a shop fee. I THOUGHT some people would actually be thankful on a lead for a job report. Guess not. Glad you all have your schedules full enough not to do this shop. To each his own. I appreciate ANY job lead for ANY business and read and pick my own battles.

Your summed it up with "to each his own." Some people have shown a sense of humor and others have questioned the motives of the churches who feel a need to be shopped. The common feeling is always if a shop is not right for you then do not take the shop. The unusual nature of these were bound to garner response and questions. There is no reason to feel that many were not thankful to be given a viable lead on potential jobs.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

but, we do owe Canada a bit of a mea culpa. Thanks for the lead. I'm gonna pass, but--really--thanks. Solid.
Absolutelywinking smiley I was having fun with the topic not making fun of any poster.

Canada, no offense was intended. You input was appreciated and educational.

I'm an equal opportunity basher who will mock P/R, reveal and bank shops just as quick, despite them being bread and butter jobs for others. I'm jaded and miss the days when I could go shopping for a new outfit and have it paid for.....
From a church's standpoint, they may want to know how they come across to someone totally new who may be looking for a church home. Are they friendly? Is a newcomer made to feel welcome? One of the churches I shopped couldn't have been more UN friendly if they tried. The greeters went so far as to discreetly stand in front of the door, letting in those they knew and making it more difficult for a stranger to enter. It's not a place I'd ever go back to for worship.

I've done about 10 church shops for Faith Perceptions. I was paid within two weeks on all of them.

The questions I had to answer had no religious connotations. They were based on a first impression of the service and the church. I could have attended just about any type of service or denomination and the questions would have applied.

All the churchs I've attended have about 75 to 125 attendees. That hardly puts them in a Megachurch status. I'm sure the Mega's do their own shopping.

The emphasis was on how welcome that church makes a newcomer feel. I can see that from the perspective that churchs tend to become a closed club and they should be more open and inviting.
