Does anyone know about this company?

The name of this company is Business Evaluation Secretshoppers Services? E-mail said they would send a check and the paperwork. Deposit check.....do the shop....keep the money. I searched the " name" and no luck. Would like some feedback from the mysteryshop pros! Thanks

There is a Business Evaluation Services but not a Business Evaluation Secretshoppers Services. Sending a check first is the first indicator that this is a scam. They are just using a variation of the name of a legitimate company hoping you will think they are that company. Of course don't attempt to cash the check because it will bounce.

You can bet this is the standard scam and the instructions will be the standard to do a couple of good paying shops and wire transfer away the balance. They are only interested in you transferring away the balance while the original check bounces.
Thanks Flash! I e-mailed the scheduler and told her I was reporting the company to the MSPA. Maybe that will slow them down. Have a great day!

I suspect they don't even know who the MSPA is. These are the standard scammers who also deal in those "inheritances" you just received from a wealthy relative you never knew you had and who mysteriously does not appear anywhere in your family tree, or who email you to let you know that you have just won millions in the Canadian lottery--where you never bought a ticket, or who are indicating they are an armed services member who found Saddam's treasure they need help in getting out of Iraq. Facts and truth never get in their way to try to get you to part with your money!
In my E, I indicated to them that they "might" be shady, so if they don't know who the MSPA is, that just might be a plus. At any rate, endless people read the Forum and I hope this Thread will help. Once again, thanks for your input.

WooHoo! I just got my first shopping scam email to my shopping business account! Very nicely detected by Gmail as spam and sent to my junk mail. But the contents are standard--too much money, sending you money up front to cash their check and go do shops, promise of good money on a weekly basis, send them your information by email

"Dear Applicant,

I don't get those.. I really want to tell them my address! It's ... PLUTO!

Oh yes, this makes me sooo special--a group of 30! I am so honored! Somehow I doubt they will stop at 30 suckers if they find folks willing to respond.
I dunno Flash -

Are you #1 of those 30 - or, are you #30 of those 30?

You may have to let them know that unless you are #1 of those 30 shoppers, forget about it!

You know, they would likely lie and tell me that they had 29 signed up already so I needed to act fast! They might just even tell me that these were 'fun' 'easy' shops and I would get a Hero Citation!
Well, as long as you get a "hero citation" !!!!!
Wait a minute -

Is that "Hero Citation" in a frame? If it's not framed, I don't think she should go for it.

Maybe one of the shops they have in mind has me get a certificate framed rather than just getting estimates.
Wow I got the same email from the same company this morning. I knew it was spam/scam as soon as they said they'd pay me $200 for a 20 minute shop. Everything about the email screamed "SCAM" to me. The "from" email address, the amount they said they would pay, the name of the person sending the email. Everything. They should try to be a little more convincing if they are hoping to scam people.
Oh dear,

Well, I hate to burst your bubble of happiness over being selected, but if you need to get the frame yourself?

There was a mis-type in that email... there should have been a decimal point in that "200/job"! They really meant "2.00"

Now your jealousy is showing through, r@iny. They were clear $300-$500 per week with just 2-3 evaluations per week. If you ask real nice and provide me with an email address I can let the nice Mr. Cardou know that I am giving up my slot for you and he can contact you directly. :-P

I can not speak for the company but I can speak for the fraud that we have had with our company. There are people out there that will use our business name and ask people to cash a check and then keep X amount of money and send the rest to them. This is usually fraud. No job is that easy, and who needs someone else to cash a check.
Those come into my yahoo work email from all places like Nigera. The info. they try and get is the giveaway, MSC's require you sign up on their site,it's so easy to spot. I think I'm #1 or at least #2 on their list.
They usually go into my spam box, but sometimes a few sneak through.

Live consciously....
Shopping ... time

Who needs someone else to cash a check? My poor, long lost relative in Nigeria, who just so happens to be deposed royalty. If ONLY I would deposit funds set up in an account set up solely for this purpose, he would be able to somehow access said funds and restore himself to the throne. I would, of course, be compensated generously for my efforts.
Which of course gets a few giggles when you are a blue eyed blonde of Northern European extraction.
even more when you're a nice Jewish girl from Jersey! just not that many Jewish people in Nigeria, folks.

Jealousy?

Harumpf!

Hardly... I KNOW it's the truth. Because that email came from a reliable source. From australia . <--- See? They can't put the period in the right place, there's the misplaced decimal point.

Not likely australia because he would have capitalized it. But I am amused that in one part of the email he states it is "Fulcrum Evaluations LLC" and later it is "Concise". Guess he just doesn't know which side of the scam he woke up on this morning.
My wife got a Postal Service Money Order for $900.00 from them (Andy Cardou) two days ago. She obviuosly gave them our address. I thought right away this was a scam because we both had no idea who this guy is. We still have the money order. We plan on taking it to the nearest Post Office and inquiring about it. I have a friend that is an inpsector for the U.S. Postal Service and I have advised him of this. I have no intentions of putting this in any account of ours. Once cashed they probably want money back. Aint gonna happen!

BES is Business Evaluation Services. I have shopped for them but not in a long time. They paid without a probelem. They have been getting some more new restaurant shops lately too.

She didn't necessarily give them your address. About a year ago, I got sent a money order through the mail once telling me I'd been chosen for an exciting career as a shopper. Believe me, I didn't give them my address and I wasn't new to MSing. I tried to contact them to tell them off but that wasn't possible.

I contacted the post office and the local police. The post office wanted all the information. The police were unimpressed.

By the way, are you Copper from MSR who used to travel all over the U.S.? If so, congrats on the marriage. smiling smiley
Does anyone know of Clear Evaluation Inc.? Secret shopper offers are coming in like crazy. Why would this company want me to send $1500 to someone in Denver, Co, unless its a scam?
While Clear Evaluations is a legitimate company that offer you got is not. It is all too common for the scam artists to use the name of a real company. That way if a potential victim just does a very small amount of research they might be fooled.

No company is going to pay you in advance for work and mystery shopping jobs do not tend to pay several hundred dollars for 30 minutes work.

Here is what it says on the real Clear website:

"Beware of a check cashing scam using our company name. Clear Evaluations will never send checks or money orders prior to conducting an assignment, and we do not conduct shops for any money transfer service companies at this time. This is a scam and in no way affiliated with Clear Evaluations. Furthermore, we ask that you register at our secure website, never send personal information directly to someone using free email accounts such as gmail. All Clear Evaluations schedulers use legitimate clearevaluations.com email accounts."

LOL! My laugh of the day! I have a bad head cold and I have the airport shops to do tomorrow. Thanks. Maybe this forum will be better than the tylenol I refuse to take.

Speaking of SCAM, my bank had been a blessing. They blocked it before I was cleaned out.

I received an email purportedly from my bank advising that my account had been compromised. They asked that I provide pertinent info to verify my identity. I just woke up when I read it and I had always been cooperative with my bank, so I gave them. Sure enough, my balance showed zero. I was in a panic when I called the bank. They told me there were huge transfers and ATM withdrawals, etc. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. Then, he said, "Don't worry, We caught it right away and immediately froze your account. Your money is still there."

And I never thought I would be that stupid. I am usually not. lol
