Winter Weather

A winter storm is heading up the East coast. While it's only forecast to drop 2-4 inches along the coast of South and North Carolina, even that small an amount will bring things to a standstill. We don't have the equipment to handle snow, and the fact that we get significant storms maybe once every 2-3 years on average, means it's more economical to just shut everything down for a day or two than to try to keep going.

Hope everyone stays safe.

Amazing isn't it, I hear it is snowing on St. Simons Island. That is the first snowfall in about 30 years. Here in Charlotte just cold.
We'll be in the 70's in the Phoenix area tomorrow. Sorry all who will be suffering.

There are 3 kinds of lies. Lies, Damn lies, and statistics.
I was in Phoenix in December for a couple of weeks. I really enjoyed it, other than the crappy air quality that gave me and my husband both a nasty cough for a week after. In the summer when it's 100-120 I don't think I would enjoy that much, either.

It's going to be -2 tonight here. I am not suffering, I am in the house with my fuzzy socks on. Tomorrow the high is 10 or some crazy temp, but I have heated seats in my car, warm clothes, and I am only going 4 miles down the road to do a highly bonused grocery store. No suffering there!
I was born and raised in Colorado and I lived in Connecticut for 11 years so I know all about harsh winter weather. I actually miss having at least occasional snow, although I don't miss driving in it. My husband doesn't miss shoveling at all. I do hate our summers. I'd rather dress for cold than dress for heat.

We're gonna get around a foot of snow in Connecticut. Not going to work tomorrow so I'm just gonna stay home, catch up on some sleep, and snow plow my driveway.

We had a White Christmas in Seattle this year (very unusual), which was nice. However, we've been otherwise spared. I'm happy with 40 degrees and cloudy right now. I hope those of you dealing with that real rough weather stay safe and warm. If you find yourself pressured to take a shop, ask for one heck of a bonus.

My sister who lives in Palo Alto, CA was in Seattle for Xmas visiting my niece. They were amazed that it snowed, LOL. We aren't experiencing snow here in NE Ohio right now, just extreme cold.
It has been almost ten years since we have had snow on Christmas - and that time, it didn't actually snow on Christmas - as it was left over from a better snow the previous week.

It may be cold here in SC at 30 degrees during the day, but I'm sure feeling fortunate! My sister lives up in Mass., and they're forecast to get 12+ inches of snow from this storm....PLUS winds of 50-60 mph!! A real blizzard! She said she's not concerned about the snow, but is about the winds. They've got wood for the fireplace, just in case, and went grocery shopping today.

....I like the blue-colored fonts, too. They're much easier on the eyes, DavePi!

JASFLALMT, as an ex N.E. Ohio resident I can tell you, you know what you are in for. It's coming!
Just curious, Dave, where are you in the Nutmeg State?

I'm between Hartford and Norwich. Am afraid if I give anymore information, I'm gonna find some forum members at my front door with tiki torches.

Oh good lord, Dave. No drama please, LOL.

Rob, I was able to reschedule the remainder of my shops I had for the next few days to do next week when it will be in the 30s (other than one grocery shop 4 miles from home I am going to do shortly). I looked ahead at the 15 day forecast and I see some 40s in the forecast, not too bad. It's just the next few days that will be uncomfortable for people out and about. I am hot tubbing it with champagne tonight and tomorrow night!
DavePi, haven't you exceeded your weekly quota?
No work today. Caught up on my sleep. Watching the first episode season 11 of x-files. Drinking some champagne. Ahhhh..lyf is go0d. gonna teach my br0ther to sn0w pl0w l8ter t0day.

With all of the freaky weather conditions that happened in 2017, we are in for some unusual weather patterns. Remember when Katrina hit, the weather system was off. It took awhile for the weather patterns to return to normal. Here in northern CA, the average day temperature had been 60 to 65 degrees in December. It was usually around high 50's to low 60's degrees. Not much rainfall yet. I think CA will be experiencing another drought year.
Dave, so if I want to go after you I have to search all that area? Guess I'll leave you alone for now. lol
I was just curious because I lived in Fairfield County for 11 years so I went through a few storms like what you're dealing with. My oldest son and his family still lives in Connecticut. I know they're having fun right now.

Just came home and found my mailbox gone. It'll show up when the snow is gone but I'll have to wait a couple months. Gonna go home depot today to get a new one because it looks weird with a post with no box on top. #mothernaturegotmegood.
