Publix

Ok so when I am groggy I can't read straight and I thought there was no "L" in the word publix which almost got me rearended because I took a second look as I stomped my brakes.
Anyway this chain is having a sale, of sorts. Spend $50 in groceries and get a coupon for $10 off a $50 gas card.

Just lost trying to find a fire pit in a concrete jungle wishing it was a wooded glen...

if it wasn't for bad luck, I would have no luck at all

That deal ends today (Sunday 3/9). It appears about once a month, sometimes with a 'Spend $25' and sometimes with a 'Spend $50'. The store is very coupon friendly, honoring competitor coupons of competitors nearby. Yesterday I was in and sent $52 worth of groceries down the belt so I could get the gas card. Subtotal $102. Now start deducting store, manufacturer and competitor coupons and what I actually paid was $49.17 for 4 totes of groceries and a $50 gas card. Overall expensive store, but certainly the cheapest in the area after coupons!

Their policy is that they will allow one manufacturer coupon and one Publix or competitor coupon per item. On a BOGO that can mean using up to 4 coupons while you are only paying for 1 item of the pair.
It's even cheaper if you do a shop and get reimbursed $10 and minumum shop fee of $8!
Except that you are not supposed to buy gift cards on those shops and I would not like to get into a heated discussion about whether a gas card constitutes a "gift card" or not. On the other hand, once you figure in the secondary payers like UPromise and Checkout 51 you start dropping the net cost more and more.
wait what?! Publix is shopped?!
URg now I have to go on a hunt!

But they only double coupons up to .50 sad smiley Better than WalMart, but that's not saying much.

They never double coupons up to $2, nor triple up to .99, like their competitor in my neck of the woods.
In my state they don't double coupons at all. In fact I have not see a grocery store double here in more than a decade.
