This is the 2nd time a postal clerk has put my 9 X 12 inch yellow mailer in a Priority labelled padded envelope. I am now hoping the picture I took of my mailing item is considered accurate as it clearly states "Padded FR Env" on the receipt. The receipt also does not have a weight (requited to confirm package weighed at least 16 oz.) listed on it. Neither of these are my fault, so I hope I still get paid. Anyone else encounter this?

If you explained everything in detail, you might have a chance. Over the years I've gotten wise to the possible hiccups, by getting caught unaware and subsequently not paid. The last clerk that tried to put my package in a flat rate to save me money, I just said I don’t mind paying more to support the post office and it's still the best price around.

But the shop instructions are specific so.... there's a big chance it will be rejected.

I can see you now, the next time it happens - snatching that package right back from their hands when they start to alter it, "Oh, no you don't!"

I have clerks do this and I just say that I prefer they don’t as it is a “work package” and “work is paying” and “accounting” needs a receipt with it showing “priority” and not flat rate. That has always worked.

More often than not I have clerks ring through the cheapest option without asking and print out the postage. I have to be quick and tell them I need the one with insurance for “work”.

I had one clerk put my package into a flat rate mailer for like $5 less than what the actual postage was. I just explained in the narrative box that I couldn't have stopped her she just grabbed my box and stuck it in something else and totally ignored me when I protested. Which was the truth but still. I got paid for the shop because I didn't do anything wrong.

I recently mailed a package that was just silently stamped without providing me any options. He did not say anything or offer me anything, and just mentioned the total due. I submitted the report anyways, but then it got rejected and I did not get paid for it since he actually sent it Regular.

I had my package repacked into flay rate . I explained what happened and got paid Chix next time they do not ask you speak up and ask how they are sending. It and then ask for priority. Just check off no options offered on the form.

I've had this, too and only realized after the transaction was done. I got another box from the car (I keep extras) and redid the whole shop, knowing the first would be rejected. So my total profit was about $2 because the cost of the erronious mailing ate most of the correct shop pay. I should have looked at the CDU before paying to see if it said Priority. My own fault.

After doing a few of these you will get familiar with the pricing so you will be able to immediately tell that the package is less expensive than it should be.

Have been blocked by IPS to make this Postal assignments, having asking them why.
Have anyone had this situation with them??

A UPS employee happily told me my box weighed 1/2 lb. UMM no; I weighed it at home and it was just under 2 lbs. Can't remember what I told her but I bought a few stamps, did not mail the box, and I was paid.

Was this at a post office or an authorized shipper?

Looks like the shipping shops are off the board.. wonder why? Of course, I finally found someone to take my grandmother's family bible off my hands, and there aren't any shops available.

You do need to make sure it is sent Priority. I have also had clerks at the grocery store locations just automatically do ground and finalize the transaction without giving me any options or telling me what they were giving me. It took a very long time for them to get the manager to void the transaction and redo it, but it will be rejected otherwise.

Right before the stamp rates went up, the postmaster was my clerk. She scanned a sheet of 20 stamps and added that along with the payment to get the correct total. I asked her what she was doing. She told me tat she was using up the stamps. I told her it was a business package, and I did not want 20 stamps on it for postage. She backed it out and did it "normal" for me. I was glad that I was paying attention, since I surely would have not been paid for that trick.

There are plenty of shops in the bay area. There are a ton in SF (bonused) all the time, since most locations have street parking only. They are good to do if you have a driver who will drop you off and circle the block. The city is gross though and dangerous. Lately, I am only there for NBA and concerts.

There seem to be no bonuses for the regular box shops. I used to make a nice profit on those.

Doesn't it still say in the instructions to, "Ask how my package will be sent," if the clerk does not announce the mailing method by name?

It's a HUGE BOOK. I doubt something that size will be covered by media mail. It's my grandmother's family bible from the civil war era.

If my family Bible was bigger than that I'm pretty sure everyone could see it without even looking hard. But Media Mail doesn't count for shipping shops.
