Do you ever cancel jobs that are not as described or turn out to be way more work than described?

The only time I can recall cancelling after accepting a job is about 3 months ago. I signed up with an MSC for a particular job that I did two years ago, and was paid by check. So I saw the assignment in my area again recently, read ALL the available information BEFORE accepting the job, and accepted it. Once I was approved to do the job, I was reading all their information, and on one of their pages, it was listed that they now only pay by Bill.com. That tidbit of information wasn't ANYWHERE in the pre-acceptance information that I read. And since I have no desire to sign up with any more payment methods, I had to write to them and explain that to them, and asked them to cancel, since I could not discern that before accepting the assignment. We parted on very good terms.

(BTW, this is NO slam against Bill.com or Venmo or any other payment methods offered by MSCs. It's just my own personal preference. I stick with DD, PP or check---and yes, some of those paper checks from RQA recently were nice and BIG!!)

A few months ago I received a email about about a restaurant shop.. The email said to visit at lunch or supper and to order an appetizer, a main entrée and drink. It did not said what kind of drink.. Even on the main page on the forum it said to order ran appetizer, a main entrée and drink. It did not said what kind of drink.

So I self assigned the shop.. After reading the guidelines, it said that it had to be an alcoholic drink, I e-mailed the scheduler and ask about it.. They said that I do not need to order an alcoholic drink.. An few days later, they emailed me back and said that it had to be an alcoholic drink.. So I email the scheduler and say to please cancel the shop since neither my wife or I do alcoholic.

The scheduler canceled the shop with no problems.. I still get mass e-mails asking if I can do this shop, and it still says the same thing . The email said to visit at lunch or supper and to order an appetizer, a main entrée and drink. It did not said what kind of drink.

When I think of drink, I think of soft drinks, tea, or water (if the client lets you order water).

There was an entertainment center shop that included bowling. I walked in the be told there was a 4 hour wait to bowl. Went back the next afternoon to be told again of a 4 hour wait to bowl. Cut my losses and did not complete the assignment.
I primarily complete hospitality assignments and have 500+ hotel evaluation shops "under my belt".
The only resort evaluation canceled by me was the one where the guidelines stated that the client requires photos of me in my bathing suits and exercise clothes as the proof that I took part in the required swimming and exercise class evaluations. It was non negotiable. Since I work very hard to protect my anonymity and could not see what value a photo of me in a bathing suit would add to the client's report, I canceled the evaluation.
In the past there were shops, if you looked at the report you would think it was a short report. When you went to fill out the report there were drop down menus with more questions. The shops were much longer then they appeared.
@guysmom....I hear you. I hate signing up for all the new methods. But there are some shops that might be worth doing under BILL.COM

I did a timeshare shop and the company required bill.com. it was super easy and it was DD from bill.com

it was just their way of centralizing

I don't shop the big "B" company because of some Tipalti nonsense. Plus most of their shops blow anyways :-)

SUPER EASY! HUMONGOUS PAY INCREASE. 5 minutes. Easy report. No purchase. $7.

*now travel, take a picture, go inside, take another picture, grab a $500 object, find man employee, talk to them, take the cart to the register, talk to another employee, lose your wallet, go outside, remember everything, and collect $7

YES, I've cancelled.

YES, I've cancelled.

On those shops I never grab a $500 object. They are too big for me to lift. They don't know what item you pick up anyway.
I have declined a shop I previously accepted and learned a valuable lesson. I saw several Hardee's shops just sitting on the board for days and didn't take one because it required you to ask the name of the person behind the drive thru speaker, which was too awkward for me. One day when I looked that requirement was gone so I accepted a shop and there it was in the guidelines and not in the description! I supposed that was an attempt to get the shops cleared from the board. I politely explained why I was declining the shop.

I guess that is the same with my shop about two months ago..
I applied for a shop at a testing company (certifications, real estate, nursing, etc.), but when I saw that I was required to sit the test for 70 minutes AND show up 30 minutes early, I told them I was not interested. They offered me higher pay; I countered higher and completed the shop. It was HORRIBLE because of the requirement to cheat on the test! I wouldn't do it again without even higher pay or a different scenario.
