Virtual Tour Shops - worth it?

I saw one last night. It's a virtual tour of a senior living center. Thank God it's not in-person right now!

Low pay. However, no need to drive out and sounds interesting. Never done a virtual shop before.

Are they easier? Same... in terms of time needed? Worth it (at what price)?

I've done one, and will not do another. I was attracted by the sitting in the comfort of my on home part of the shop. I almost posted on this site to remind me to never do another shop with this company again. I have done a few other shop for this company related to apartments, and I think the narratives and length of the evaluation is not worth. I don't have the energy. If it's the same mystery company, the only real difference as I recall is the virtual visit, and there were some questions that were specific to a virtual visit. I think I did the virtual for $20.... not worth it.
The ones that I am seeing now are $40 and 5 of them for locations within 20 miles of me got snapped up immediately. They are with an MSC that I like to work with.

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Disregard what I said.............. sort of.... I opened an email about the mystery shop I think you are referring to and it is from a different MSC than the one I did. You are probably talking about a shop from the company with the three capital letters starting with R, but the company I did the shop for was with the MSC starting with the letter C_ _ _ _ _. Never again with those people. I don't have any experience doing that type of shop with the MSC that you are talking about.
Actually, the ones that I saw were not for either of those MSCs.

There is phone call with these too, right? I was going to apply for back up shopper but I am only seeing $15.

Yeah, $15 is what I'm seeing. There is another one too, I think.....different company.
I think the one I did was with even a different MSC. The one I did was a video version of their normal shops during the shutdown. I hated it I said I would never do another one, and I will not. Even now some of their posted shops mention either on-site or virtual and I delete them.
Absolutely. No travel, I can sit the whole time, I can watch the tour again if I can't remember details? Sign me up! I've already done 4 apartment shops and hope I can pick up more this way.
I s'pose I can consider this. I detest chat but could make one phone call and follow along on-line...

For me, I prefer:

Short projects that are simple in nature and can be done in high volume (i.e., lots of locations).

I personally HATE super complicated projects with lots to remember (I sometimes feel tempted to fall asleep reading the guidelines before even starting the project) and having to play act for 15-25 minutes over the phone. Then you have to re-listen to the audio and get all the details to answer the questions with some heavy narrative at times too. Those types of projects might pay higher per shop, but I avoid them like the plague. smiling smiley Even if there are lots of locations to do and you can do a bunch, I wouldn't take them.

I want to give up on those reports sometimes half-way through. Short projects allow me to motivate myself along the way....If I finish a shop in 15-20 minutes and move on....finish another one in 15 minutes....do another...,etc., then I feel a sense of satisfaction along the way and don't mind doing more. If I have one of those several hour long ones, I want to give up! grinning smiley
I did a virtual daycare and virtual apartment this week. Both were different msc's and both were pretty easy.
I did virtual business inspections during the lockdowns. It wasn't bad and it was nice not having to leave home. The biggest challenge was adapting to the different video platforms each client used and overcoming technological issues.
