Under the “old program” I went out a couple times per month and would do a route of 20-30 locations, and it was very worthwhile because you could get a basic Jumbo Jack, Value Fry and a water for ~5.50 so at around 18 a shop it was worthwhile, which is where the prices stabilized. With the new guidelines, the base goes up to a little over $8.50 (jumbo jack small combo) — which means my my base is now around 21. The temping isn’t worth it to me — around here it’s about .70 to upgrade the fries. If it was 2.50 I’d consider it.

When the new program first dropped, they bumped up between 21-23 the first few weeks — so I jumped on them and did a few huge routes.

That said, I think some people aren’t doing the math, as the prices have now seemed to drop back to 15-18 a week.

So... I’ll do them — but not if I’m losing money compared to where I was before — in fact ideally I should be a few cents ahead because of the extra questions. It may not seem like much but when you do these as a route and add up the upload times at each location, those extra couple pics add up nicely at the end of the day. These were already a “only makes sense for a huge route” except for my very closest locations.

As far as the food... it’s OK. I’ll eat one for lunch when I’m doing them — but it certainly went downhill over 20 years. My bigger gripe is just how expensive they are in the PNW — a base jumbo jack is now $4.29. This was a burger that sat at 1.29 for years... and years... and then shot up. Plus we have a sales tax between 8-9% in WA. I’ve heard down south they are less expensive — but the MSC’s “base price” is not even enough to just cover the required food now even if someone was dumb enough to do this as a reimbursement-only kind of a deal up here.

I just got an easy one 1/2 mile from home for 15.00, since I'm moving I need to eat, and the Jumbo jack is back on...would not do the spicy chicken, will eat half and fries are o.k.

You'll do these for less than what I need.... At $15.00, under the new rules, I won't even do them if I am already in the parking lot.....

I do approximately 100 - 150 of these shops a month. Unlike some of you, I do not mind the food too much, but I rarely do more than the taste test. For me, local, want a free meal shops I will do for 13.00, but I will not do a run for less than 15.00 a shop. I have also done 36 in a 24 hour period before.

For the temp, I always do it, you pay 0.30 more for the fries, but make 1.20 more for 3 minutes more work. I did 19 shops today in a little under 9 hours including transportation, or a little under 30 min per location, and made 215.23 on them, or a little over 20.00 per hour.

I am in WA too and have always wondered why our prices were so much higher that those in other parts of the country. I have done a few under the new rules and find them to be too time consuming with all the extra pictures. Even with the extra time it takes with all these extra pictures I would consider doing them if the payment is over $20. I've done a couple for $25. I usually order the Jumbo Jack. It isn't that bad. If I do more than 1 shop at a time I usually try to find a street person to give the meal to. Many times I have just thrown the food out which bothers me a lot.
I guess it really depends on how much you expect to make per shop. I did 43 shops last week and made a little over 500.00 after gas expenses, including multiple Jack Spicy Chicken sandwiches.

I do the shops for extra debt repaying income... I love being able to throw 1k or more on my student loans each month with what is essentially a part time job.
I give the hamburger patties to my puppies back home as a treat... they get lots of treats.
I just figure if they are not at a certain amount, I can make more money with other shops..... I also do not eat that type of food, so the cost of the meal is nothing more than an expense for me whereas, if I were to want the meal, it would have increased value.

Some numbers to share

This week - 71 shops, 32.8hrs (2.16shops/hr), includes driving

Profit - 792.18, Cost - 512.87 (inc fuel), just over 7.00 a shop, a little over 22.00/hr in pay, plus 62 burgers for the dogs at home.

I did 33 locations today, first shop at 6:10AM, last shop, 9:17PM, break from 2:00 - 4:00 as per guidelines.
They are $22.00 today for the last few in Northern and Central CA. Too bad I live in Southern CA.
I just made 18.00 for one 1/4 mile, I usually get 15.00 and spend 5.00 for a combo. I'm done, just Can't BEAR TAKING A BITE OF THE BURGER ANY MORE, AND DISLIKE THE CHICKEN SANDWICH. Sorry about the caps, it's so cold my hands are shaking.

I did one today for $27. I could have done another in the next town over. I just didn't want to drive that far. It was raining pretty heavily. I paid $7.83 for a combo meal. And that is up a few cents from a week or so ago. I don't understand why our prices here in WA are so much higher than in other parts of the country. Maybe it has to do with the $15 minimum wage that was enacted here. I will only do these when the fee is $25 or so. Too many pictures for less than that.

I think that is it. It's now $13 in CA. Quite a few small businesses have closed and cited that as the reason.

ETA: $9 and $11 (only one at this rate) for shops here. LOL. NO.
