Snotty email

Morledzep didn't say he answered the phone, he just said the scheduler called while he was at the register. That would get me flustered too.

Morledzep, why in the world would you answer the phone while you are on a shop at the register? I am not trying to be mean. Maybe it's just better to let it go to voicemail sometimes.

Shelly as well as Kate & Ryan Rattner are ones I’d bend over backwards for for general MSP work. They are just great people — but for general attitude and process, I have to give it to Josh and Jannah at Mintel. Along with Informa, Mintel is one of my favorite MSPs... all I can say is that I almost feel like Mintel (and also to a lesser extent Informa) is a pretty special bird and different from most MSPs. For those who do lots of work with them, you’ll know what I mean... all I can say is I wished more MSPs took a page from their book.

Contrast that to some snappy responses I’ve received from supposedly very desperate schedulers. I don’t want to name the company — but will say it’s a Sassie company that uses plenty of bright colors in their postings that feel like you are being talked down to from the start — but I offered to do a grocery store for a $30 bonus (which isn’t unreasonable since I get this from Trendsource regularly when they are desperate) that I knew was super hard to fill—but I happened to be passing through on a family outing. The scheduler replied one line “No way in hell will I pay you a $30 bonus.” well... no way in hell will I ever offer to help her out again lol
If I had received a reply like the one above (bold emphasis added by me), I would have copied it and sent it to every manager and executive in that company, that's for sure!! That was awful!!
What does being in a powerful position have to do with anything? Answer - it doesn't. Rude people are rude no matter what position they hold. The same goes for nice people. Both hold all kinds of jobs. Holding a higher position does not excuse rudeness.

The reason I said it's weird is because they are not technically in a very powerful position. They are "clerk"-like or secretary-like in status. Not a company supervisor, VP, GM, etc. Yet, they can be very abrasive and rude as you say.

Ah, got me again! I ASSumed because it got Morledzep "flustered and pissed off" which I did not think could happen if one just ignores the call or quickly hits the button to stop ringing/buzzing. But I guess it can, after all.
Ah, well, I wasn't trying to trip you up. Just seeing it differently is all. My elderly Aunt (90) has call waiting and she doesn't know how to use it, so she gets all bent out of shape when someone calls and it "beep beeps" during her conversation. She would get rid of it if she could, but her daughter set it up and pays the bill. Now I am not saying that Morledzep is old, but I am, LOL. I am late 50s and technology irritates me pretty regularly. I didn't even want a smartphone, my husband and kids ridiculed me into getting one (and I am really glad they did, makes my life so much easier). But, when the phone rings and I don't want it to, it pisses me off. And if a scheduler called me during a shop, I would look at the screen while trying to decline the call and see it was from him/her and I would be mad, too. Oh, and I am old school, when schedulers text me without asking me if it's okay, that irritates me too. And when I am doing merchandising jobs, some companies state to not have your phone with you on the floor, so I leave it in my merch bag and only look at it on break--only to see that a company rep has called and/or texted me 5+ times. I call them back and they act pissy because I didn't respond. I thought they didn't want me to have the damned phone with me? LOL!!! So there you have it...
Oh, and old school or not, how many of you think it's rude when you are standing in line and see someone at the counter (ordering food, at the meat counter at the grocery store, at the retail register, at the post office counter, etc.) on their phone while an associate is trying to assist them? Shop or not. I bet all of you. And that's why I was pretty sure that Moreledzep didn't answer his phone.
I live a ringerless life so I forget how others handle it. Don't like the noise. Usually the vibrate is off, too.
I sent a snotty email once when I sneezed right as I hit send...….

I posted a rant a bit ago about ACL. I had a wonderful scheduler for over a year. I bent over backwards for her and vice versa. She left the company or moved on. The new scheduler lasted about a month and left. They then brought in one of the rudest people I have ever had the displeasure of having to work with. She was SUPER nasty in her emails and very aggressive and combative. Even when I was trying to diffuse the situation, she kept responding and each one was worse than the previous one. I had asked for three shops in the same area about 100 miles away. I had done this previously without issue. I asked her to combine the shops onto one date instead of the three separate dates they were listed as. This had never been an issue. In three emails she called my old scheduler a piece of crap repeatedly, she called me a liar and a flake and made up her own rules. I was so upset by the interaction, I cancelled the shops. She told me she would essentially "make me pay" if I cancelled the shops. The bad news is, she did. I no longer see a lot of the shops I completed in the past. I guess a year plus of great shops means nothing to this company. Thankfully, that scheduler rode off on her broomstick and I have a new scheduler who doesn't respond to most emails, but at least is nice. I have completed multiple shops for her and gotten high marks, but I still only see the same 10 shops a month. sad smiley
