Hazmat, Food Pantry, and Cops
I never thought about dirt. That's a good idea. How do you remove all the markings from the box to keep reusing over and over? Do you both use labels so they peel off easy?

Feel free to ship anything to me at 2420 S Madison St, Bloomington, IN 47403. We have several food pantries and shelters in Bloomington and I do support them.
My zip code is 53215 and anyone can ship boxes to me if that is the right zone range. You don't need to send anything of value in the box--just put in newspaper, etc. I have a shipping buddy and we ship the same box back and forth to each other and never even open the box. It is just junk paper inside. The trick is to cover the top and sides of the box with clear tape. Think about this first layer of tape as a sealer for the cardboard. This helps get off the paper label and the stickers the post office uses without damaging the box. Then use a piece of paper on the top of the box to write the address on and JUST cover the paper with a second layer of tape. When the second person gets it, they can either rip off the paper layer with the top layer of tape and put on a new one or just put another layer of paper with the new address and tape over it. I can't ship to more people right now because my current shopping buddy sends me lots of boxes but I will be happen to just be a mailing address if you need one. PM me if you want my address.

I'm 01220, and our food pantry and Stone Soup would love packages! Yes, other than sending to Utah, yes I have trouble finding addresses for Hazmat.
That's what I do! I get sand from the beach, and a friend collects all the boxes for another trip, one month i reused the same box 4 times!
We also have friends who let me use their addresses when i mail from out of state... or I tell them I travel and send friend goodies, rocks, shells, sand for their collections.
Our home USPS manager and clerk know, I just smile and say, someone has to give you mail to fill my big mailbox!

Yikes! That has to be the most whack MS'ing story ever! Way beats anything I can personally recall..
FWIW, I've never done those shops because of not having a place to ship things. But I like the idea of a shipping partner.

Wow, I can't believe they called the cops on you! How ungrateful of them. I've had the opposite experience. The soup kitchen's send me "Thank you" cards for my donation, and one kitchen even sent me a beautiful apron to say thank you That was such an amazing surprise. However, I will be more cautious now after your story. Unbelievable!

I basically put tape all over the box. Then I print a mailing label on half a sheet of plain paper. I tape that onto the box. The recipient can either put a new paper label on top, or peel the tape off the tape. Whatever is easy.
