Looking for insight. I got an email from someone I thought was reliable on Linked in. (Im sure you experienced shoppers know where this is going). They told me about a mystery shopper service. Bottomline. I signed up received text and e-mail telling me I would get a certified postal package with instructions. It arrived with a check for $2450 detailing how I should deposit the cashiers check (which I did) I've now alert my bank since I've had second thoughts. The "mystery shopper" contacts me to let them know when the check clears and they will give me further instructions.. Only thing is the email they sent me already gave me instructions to purchas e-bay gift cards at local chain pharmacy, rate the store, clerk, experience etc. Then wait further instructions. They told me to keep $300 of the payment as my first payment. I only deposited the check yesterday and I've alerted the bank. The company said it is Ardentservicesltd.com I see there is an Ardent company, but I'm very skeptical of the "services Ltd" part. Thoughts? What should I do?
Do NOT use any of the money. The check is fake and will bounce within a few days. IGNORE the scammer and their threats. Block their email and phone number. Mystery Shopping NEVER pays $2,500! ....more like $10-15 dollars per average shop. You will NEVER be paid in advance. The "further instructions" will be for you to give them the numbers off the back of the card (which they will use immediately) and to continually dupe you out of money.
