Blizzard conditions here! Have they affected you?

I live on the East coast 1/2 mile from the ocean. Most everything is closed here. I made sure my jobs were all done up to today. I had no trouble scheduling into next week. I'm not far from Boston.

In CT, I did pretty much the same thing. Made the last two days extra busy to take both today and Saturday off. (-20 wind chills expected here Saturday and Sunday). Will shop somewhat tomorrow.
Live in the middle of Connecticut. Pretty windy here. My Dad wanted to go to work today, but I strongly advised against it.

I'm surrounded by oceans and bays and the snow is still coming down 2-3" an hour. My son is snow blowing and I am on the computer. I didn't plan shops for the rest of this week Try again next week.
Im in NC and we got lots of snow. I had to reschedule a bank shop for tomorrow. I hope they will be open tomorrow because just about everything was closed today.
We got snow in the DC area. I had a shop to do at lunch that was about a mile away walking. I did the shop, and made a rookie mistake. I forgot to take a picture of my food. Yay for Yelp.

Uh...no! I make every effort to stay out of the mountains during this time of the year unless I am skiing.
Yep. We are gonna get a bad freeze tomorrow and Saturday. I don't drive- I travel via walking and public transportation and with some pain issues so I am thinking I may need to reschedule tomorrow. I took a lot before knowing of the weather. I don't think my body can handle it- especially not with all the ice sad smiley
These are the hazards of being a mystery shopper.
On a related note, I can't believe the schedulers who think anyone will trek out in this dangerous weather for crap pay: "Need done immediately- $3.00 bonus!" This is for a job that is usually for reimbursement only. Don't get me started on "hero citations".
Oddly enough, I'm on the coast with no mountains in sight. It is cool to see snow on the beach though. Its kind of like a treat because this doesn't happen to often.
If you are a pet owner, please keep them warm and safe. Yahoo had posted some terrible incidents where the pets were frozen to death. One was a mama dog who lost some of her puppies due to the freezing weather. The idiot owner pleaded that they did not know she was pregnant and given birth. That dog was always kept outside. This incident happened around christmas time. They should publicly shame the owners with their pictures posted on all media websites and in the local newspapers.
Around here the police are happy to get involved if pets are left outside in the cold or locked in a hot car.

Honny,
Do you mean to say that you submitted a Yelp picture of food for your MS report?

Based in MD, near DC
Shopping from the Carolinas to New York
Have video cam; will travel

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
I live near the beach in NC and we got about 6" here. It's our worst snow since '89. Now that may not seem like a lot to most but I am not even thinking about shopping with the roads full of ice. We have one snow plow in our county and it hasn't gotten out here yet! Our snow came Wednesday night and it's still all here, it's beautiful but too cold!!! One grocery store canceled all our shops here early in the week and most of the others have been great! The other I won't shop for again. Like you all they offered me a bonus of $3, not happening! Most of the places I had shops for are closed anyway! I will just sit inside, nice and warm and look at the pretty snow
You realize that the imbedded data will show that you did not take that photo? Not to mention that you risk being deactivated for this? Also it potentially gives a black eye to all mystery shoppers. Is your integrity worth more than the price of that shop?

MF asks, "Did you personally take this photo on the day of the shop?" I hope you did not take the photo from an online picture. MSC's have "Photo DNA" and they can tell if you took it or if it came from some other source.
Staying inside until the weather warms up a bit. It’s amazing the number of schedulers who think people should risk snow and sub zero temperatures for tiny amounts of money. But it will probably bring better bonuses at the end of the month. I’m in NH and I always wonder why the schedulers don’t start offering bonuses earlier in the month during the Winter to avoid having a higher than normal number of shops left at the end of the month when we have so many fewer good shopping days this time of year.

Keep in mind it is the first month of the year for most companies. Many of them had to offer bigger than usual bonuses to get the end of year shops completed just a few weeks ago.

I live in NJ and we got slammed by the blizzard. Luckily my shops due this week were all online /phone shops. I wasn't able to complete three of them on time because one of the targets was a school that closed for inclement weather, and the other two closed early because of snow. I emailed the msp and they were so nice and just moved the due date of the shops to yesterday and Monday for me. That was awesome that they didn't just cancel them. I was afraid I'd lose them completely.

So glad I didn't take any shops for the first half of this month. I am a freeze baby. It's bad enough getting up in the morning to endure yet another cold, horrible, long commute. I hope the rest of January warms up.

Yikes. Good luck backpeddling on that one, @HonnyBrown

VT. Minus 30 wind chill. Did one yellow station this morning 3 miles from home. Could not get it moved out due to new system at "you know who" MSC.

Ouch! I think I would cancelled. Or is that also not possible with their new system? I haven't scheduled since the change.

Am I the only person that assumed she just meant she always takes photos to help her remember what she ate and so she can accurately describe the plating and what was included. I know I myself do that all the time, even when no photo is required or asked for.

Do we always have to jump to the worst possible conclusion?
I agree with @MickeyB.

Based on the comment used, "Rookie Mistake," I would assume that the photo was required, not to be used as a tool for describing a plating. Based on the posting history, I do not believe that this shopper does a lot of high end dining (stretching the Chipotle meal to 3-4 days comes to mind).

Good to be a "glass half full" person though, MickeyB. smiling smiley
No.

You're putting 2 and 2 together and getting turtle. That's not at all what happened.

Actually, Mickey is right. Well, closer to right than the rest of you. I used Yelp to see if the restaurant was open before I trekked up there.

I dine at fine restaurants, but not on shops.

No need for backpeddling. Hoju. Where have you been?
