new with a question

Hello, I am new to mystery shopping and afraid of scams. I recently signed up for a job with Service Solutions, ssishops. Is anyone familiar with this company any good/bad experiences. And if there are any reliable companies you would recommend? Thanks! Sam

Welcome to the forum!

To the best of my knowledge, Service Solutions is a merchandising company rather than mystery shopping. I don't know if they are expanding their services, but I am not signed up with them because they were not doing shops.

If you read through the forum you will find lots of discussions of reliable and unreliable companies. And there is a list in the first post of the first thread in the Mystery Shopping Company Discussion of more than 200 companies that are legitimate.
Just some rules to live by:
1. You should never have to pay to become a mystery shopper.

2. Never take any checks, traveler checks, money orders, or cashier checks. More than likely they are scams. They will ask you to cash them and send part of the money back. Your bank won't realize they are counterfeit for at least three days and then you are stuck repaying everything back.

3. Try out the Mystery Shopper Providers Association. They are a type of watchdog group that allows ony respectible clients to post on their shopper board.

Hope this helps. smiling smiley

Your advice is greatly appreciated!
scams can only get you if you are blissfully ignorant, Because you are aware scams can get you you and you read this forum, you can have a heads up.

Do not fall for the furniture company that offers a $75 fee You will most likely never see that $75. If you get one ambiguous question wrong you spend 3 hours gathering information and get nothing for it.

Do not be afraid to tell the scheduler if the assignment does not offer guidelines or offers additional guidelines after you accept the assignment. All you are responsible for is the original requirements. You can e-mail the scheduler and ask if parking fees and other requirements are involved.

Watch for the "hidden" expenses. If you are not sure they have parking ask!
Jersey City, Hoboken, Newark airport and downtown and other places charge $10 for the first half hour and there is no street parking. You made the parking attendant very happy but what is in it for you?
