Hello from Los Angeles

My name is Oliver and by day I'm a criminal defense attorney. I've been practicing criminal and constitutional law for 22 years. I've also written two books on the subject of constitutional law.

About a year ago my practice fell apart when my business partners split up. I now operate out of my house and live off of book royalties and the few cases that I take. I consider myself semi-retired as my caseload is approximately 10% what it was five years ago. I have plenty of money saved and I'm not looking at starting another practice.

I'm rather new to mystery shopping. I'm taking it up as a hobby to fill some of my time. From this forum I hope to learn the secrets of the trade winking smiley

Welcome to the forum, and the mystery shopping!
Good thing you've got some money cause you won't get rich MSing, but it's fun and can really add "extras" to your lifestyle. I tend to care more about the reimbursements than the pay .... especially dining reimbursements. Happy shopping! There's lots of good info here! Welcome!
You are in the right place.

I am sure in your practice you have learned that experience is great but if you are fortunate enough to read it here and avoid stepping into it yourself your shoes smell a lot better.

I know what you mean, I am "retired" whatever that is and I am waiting for my friends to come out and play. They are too busy working. I do a lot of nice restaurants that are upscale.$75 lunches and over $140 restaurants. I am sure the los angeles area has those shops. I am on the other coast.
Welcome Oliver,
You will find that you are not alone as a "prematurely retired" professional in this crazy business. If you are within easy striking distance of Nevada, you might want to lool into getting a Nevada permit through one of the PI agencies that are licensed to do shops in that state. Some consider Nevada shopping routes to be very lucrative.

Interestingly enough, I was once a licensed private investigator in California.

If the Nevada requirements are anything like California's, those shops would be so not worth it winking smiley
I think that the mystery shops are not so different in Nevada. It is simply tha Nevada law requires shoppers to be affiliated with a PI agency in that state. For more info, see threads on Nevada shopping here and at volition.com.

Welcome Oliver! You are from California? We have new missions for miu miu and prada in California, please check mystery shopping job board,I just posted a message to recruit mystery shopper smiling smiley
I recently got my PI LIcense and did a couple jobs there, pay is more than in CA. I do R&R and dinners there, great restaurants, I go about every 3 months and let my company know before hand. You have to be hired by a company first and getting license is a devil and costly, so do make sure you will be going there often. The work required is more than L.A., so, you do work for your supper. I still enjoy Vegas without doing reports and find it inexpensive going in the summertime. Have been going for over 30yrs., so know the in's and out's. I'm sure you'll enjoy the restaurants and your in the greatest area for that.

Live consciously....
