Some folks do this as their only job, but most of us use it for extra income - whether we work full time, are retired, etc. Do not quit you full time work for this until you know enough about it and have established yourself industry well enough to earn the income you require. Keep in mind that, if you go this route, there are no health benefits: you will need to either buy health insurance on the exchange, pay out-of-pocket, or never get sick.
All that said, a person can support him/herself doing this. You'll need to be organized, willing to work hard - especially as you get started, willing to shop 200 miles (and further?) from home, and get into video shopping.
Start by reading up on this forum - there is a tone of good information here. Then, ask questions.
