Hello All!

Hi everyone!

I'm Ang and I live in Long Island, NY. I've actually never done this before. I recently heard about it and it piqued my interest. I'm a college student living on my own, so I thought this would be a great way to earn a little more on the side.

Any tips on how to get started and the like would be much appreciated. smiling smiley I was looking through the Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies and, to be completely honest, I don't recognize a single name. If anyone here is from around Long Island, I'd love to talk to you and get some regional-specific tips as well.

Happy holidays!
Ang

There are lots of tips here and the best place to get started is the New Mystery Shoppers area. Pay particular attention to the first ten threads because they provide a lot of information on getting started. I'm not sure there are any tips or tricks which are specific to certain regions.

When you start your mystery shopping business it will definitely take time. Consider that your investment because mystery shopping doesn't have to take a large monetary investment. Signing up with a lot of companies is the only way to find a wide variety of assignments in your area. In the beginning you can start with several companies that tend to have work across the country, Market Force, Corporate Research International and Bare International. Another way to target companies is to utilize job boards. Two are Jobslinger.com and MSJobBoard.com. The boards should not take the place of registering with as many MSCs as possible because not all of them post their assignments anywhere other than their own websites.
