Hello

Hello everyone

I started mystery shopping this past January to supplement my part-time income. I have been very lucky so far. I have completed 62 shops, have had no problems with any of them. I have been paid for every shop that was supposed to pay so far without having to hunt anyone down, but I'm sure I'll have to go there sooner or later...sounds like just a reality of the business from time to time. I waited tables, bartended and managed restaurants for 16 years, so I've been stiffed plenty of times, amongst other things, my experience in the restaurant business has served me well with the mystery shopping. I currently work in higher education...what a switch!

Anyway, I find the job both fun and easy. My only regret is that I am limited to when I can do shops because I have four children and work three days a week. I miss many opportunities! I am still trying to find more companies in my area, although I think I have found most (at least most with a lot of offers). I have found lots of valuable information on this site...thanks to all who post!

No worries...I won't be on here slamming any MSC's (unless I stop getting paid and want to warn others), you take the good with the bad, it is what it is...

Hi Kat,

I saw you posted in another thread that you are in Cincy. Which companies are you signed up with? I see a couple of MSCs that have casual/fast food shops that go unclaimed for a while. There's also a brewpub that seems to hang out there forever sometimes.

I'm Cbus.

Welcome, Kat!

Hala,
Multiple posts promoting one MSC are always a source of concern. Please tell us your relationship with Bestmark or refrain from multiple posts just endoring them. If you are an editor, scheduler or employee, protocol here is that you add a permanent sig line stating your name, position and contact information through the MSC. You can do that by setting up a sig line in your profile. It will be attached to all of your posts, right back to the first one.

Hala123, I echo Wales' comments. All 8 of your posts are for encouraging sign-ups with Bestmark, and 5 of the posts are identical! They scream that you are in some way, shape, or form, affiliated with Bestmark, so please follow the protocol.

emily,
If you work for Gfk, you need to add a permanent sig line identifying yourself as affiliated with an MSC, as is the protocol for ll company employees or scheduling/editing ICs.

DRJ, sorry I just noticed this. I am signed up with almost 100 companies so it would take a long time to list all of them here. As for the fast food/casual, there are a lot of those that sit sometimes. I have never done any of them. In fact, I have only ever done one food shop ever, out of about 200. We have four kids and we rarely go out to eat. I don't want to go by myself and in order for my husband to go with me, we need to find a babysitter. I usually only do shops when my husband is home with the kids and/or find relatives to help out too. When I finally get to go out to eat, it's usually "date night" for my husband and I (about every three months) and I do not want to be working!

I don't know what everyone else around here is doing...maybe sick of eating fast food and I can't say I blame them! I'm really strict about fast food at my house, my youngest two kids have literally never had it. My oldest only get it from grandparents...my oldest daughter was eight the first and only time I got her a happy meal. I'm one of those moms, so even if it was easy for me to get out of the house, the fast food shops can sit.

Thanks for the welcome!
