New Guy from Glendale, Arizona

Hi. I'm Will. I'm a new guy. I live in Glendale, Arizona. I am from Charlotte, North Carolina though. My mother and step-father both do this, and now so do I. I am into motorcycles, gaming, comics, and wrestling. At the end of the day, I'm as much a nerd as the next person even though you wouldn't know it by looking at me.

I'm just starting this - total newbie. I've heard nothing but good (well a few less then good but otherwise acceptable) things regarding the whole Mystery Shopping process. It seems a bit overwhelming, and that is probably part of the reason why it has taken me so long to do this. Anyway, I'm here now. It's, as we say in the south, "time to get crackin'".

So with that in mind, any help and advice someone can give me, I'm all ears.

Welcome to the forum! Read as much as you can here with a focus on the New Mystery Shopper forum and the sticky notes at the beginning. There is a ton of advice on everything from equipment to taxes. You can take advantage of the Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies located at the bottom of each page. There you will find a link to the company website to register along with a link for ongoing discussion about the company. How many companies you register with is going to depend on what you want to get out of mystery shopping. Regardless, it's a good idea to start slow. At first each shop and report will take longer. Nothing will burn you out faster than biting off more than you can chewsmiling smiley

Around here we do like to have some fun. You will find good advice and just as important, will be able to learn from the mistakes of others.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Wow. Thanks for responding so fast! I followed my mother's advice and setup an email account and PayPal account specifically for this. When the funds start coming in I will make a bank account specifically for it too.

I think I have an edge because my mother and step father both do this. I am also a quick and accurate typer with a background in English so my reports should (hopefully) be a little easier on me then on some others.
You are definitely starting out about 5 steps ahead of where I startedwinking smiley

Welcome New Guy from Arizona! We are happy to have you there. You are definately in the best place. Even experienced mystery shoppers learn new things from this forum. I'd give you the name of a few good companies to get started but your mom and step-father have probably already told you. Did they tell you about this forum? I would suggest you start with just a few companies to get your feet wet and so you don't get overwhelmed. I also suggest you write out a paragraph detailing your last trip to the supermarket. The reason for this is that most of the companies will ask you for a writing sample and then you just have to cut and paste it instead of re-doing it multiple times!
