In order to make any money you need to be signed up with lots of companies. Many of us are at 100 plus. Find ways to speed up registration. Programs that can fill in some of the fields for you and have a couple of writing samples saved into a Word type document so you can quickly copy and paste. There is an "Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies" at the bottom of every page in the forum. There you will find them listed alphabetically and there is a link next to each letting you know how many discussions you can find about the company. Reading the discussions is the best way to determine if the company may be a fit for you, or not.
There are a number of them which consistently have shops all over the country making them a good starting point. It is not always possible for someone to tell you which companies shop your particular region and that is not the necessarily the best focus anyway. Some of my best jobs come from companies that may only have something in my area once a year or even less. Yesterday I had a $40 retail shop less than fifteen minutes from home. It was the second time I had done a shop for that company in the 4 1/2 years I've been shopping full-time and the first was in May of 2008, lol!
You may also want to utilize Jobslinger.com. They have both a paid and free version. I have exclusively used the free one for job postings. The postings can sometimes be out of date so the real value is in seeing which companies are posting jobs in your area. You can then focus your initial efforts on those companies before branching out into others.
