hospitals

I've always wanted to know what really goes on in a hospital at night. I have been a patient many times for high blood pressure, headaces, stomach cramps, angles, colds and sore throat Just curious about the noise level from my room. You really don't get any sleep in the hospital because of the noise and the nurses are in and out all night. But i thank God for the Hospitals.

Sounds like you belong in the Nut Ward!...:p

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
The noises at night are unbearable. I work in a hospital I know. It has been proven that noise at night hinders a patient healing process. Because with the noise the person is contantly wondering what is happening around them. confused smiley confused smiley (you cannot control your environment when you are a patient.)

The overhead speaker, the call lights, people yelling, machines dinging and binging, and even the telephone has created a noise nuisance. We as nurses have been warned to limit ourselves to the interruptions at nite. If you toilet your patient early in the night shift, that patient can go 3 or more hours before having to go again. Night medications can be given in the late part of the evening, so at too not interrupt sleep patterns. Yes, Adelaide you are right. The hospital is no where to get sleep.

and mrcomputer101---->it is probably quieter in a Nut Ward. Once you give psyche patients, haldol and thorazaine, they have nothing to do but walk around like ZOMBIES.
Having been in 4 different hospitals in one year I can honestly say I have a little experience there. At night it is quiet and if you are not on a lot of medication you do have trouble getting to sleep. I always did have trouble falling asleep anyway so that was to be expected. The only time I didn't was when I was on a lot of pain meds. (car accident) I never really heard the nurses outside my room or ward. The nurses I had were to busy
helping people. I was in ICU. There is a difference depending what ward you are in. I was also in recovery after surgery and a surgical ward.
