Hi Janell,

Welcome to the forums here. You'll find everyone is a helpful and friendly bunch - but you have to do the work. What's the work?

Pull up a chair, grab a thermos of coffee, and start - *Reading*! Yup, plan on spending many hours today and in the future reading topics here, getting a "feel" for Mystery Shopping.

After you've done that, then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies" LINK. From there you'll see a nice long list of Mystery Shopping Companies to sign up as a shopper. You will also see something like this: [# of DISCUSSIONS] SAVE yourself a lot of headache by READING those discussions.

Get yourself a spreadsheet in Excel set up where you can keep track of your log in name, password, Company name, pay schedule, and a bunch of pertinent information.

Also - down at the bottom of the page - you'll see a link for "NEW MYSTERY SHOPPERS" - click that link. At the top of that forum board are several "sticky" topics. READ EVERY TOPIC so you know what you need to do to start up as a Mystery Shopper.

Good luck, happy shopping, and enjoy the forum!

Hi Janell! I'm a Baton Rouge native myself.

I'm sure there are plenty of opportunities to be found in your area. The key to finding them would be, sign up with as many different companies as you can find. A given company might have nothing this week, but something next week or next month. You'll find a list at the bottom right here to get started. Jobslinger is another place to look; keep in mind that if you find something you like, you'll still have to apply with the company that listed it.

Bon chance!

I am new to the forum and mystery shopping. I have a question, do you have to check each site for shops or does the company email you when they have a shop in your area...thanks so much
Most companies email you. But realize they may not email you the same day that jobs post but only with those jobs that nobody took the day they posted. Depending on the competitive nature of your area you may be able to wait for emails.
Hi Barbara,

I set up my "Favorites" folder in Firefox as:

MYSTERY SHOPPING
--->(subfolder) Daily Checks
--->(subfolder) 3-Day Checks
--->(subfolder) Weekly Checks
--->(subfolder) EMAILS Only (meaning the company emails you, there's no job board)
--->(subfolder) MISC INFO

Then, once I sign up for a company, I actually leave it up under the main folder "Mystery Shopping" until I see if they have a lot of jobs in my area. IF I find out they DO have jobs posting frequently, then I move the link to my "DAILY CHECKS".

And yes, I do check those "Daily Checks" every day. Usually around 430-5AM; I try and check again one more time during the day.

Also - hopefully you keep a spreadsheet of your jobs and information. I designed my own, and after a few months now, I've begun to see which companies I shop the most for. In that case now, I check those companies several times a day. I've been lucky to snag a few by doing this.

Good luck!
