I am with the mystery shopping company now

i am appalled the the garbage that goes on in this industry. i just started this past week and have received a conterfeit check, a UPS envelope that before i could pick it up from the ground the delivery guy took it back and said there was a problem with it and just today rec'd another check in the amount of $3,467.; the company name is Legion Industries the bank says wachovia missing the wa in dallas, pa. noone has contacted me as to what to do with the check but the signature is noone ive spoken with. this has been a terrible ordeal for me to deal with on the onset of being introduced to mystery shopping. i did not know there were so many companies that did this, that there were good and bad ones and that you hd to be careful and watch out because you could be wiped out of your savings if you put these checks into your account. i was smart enough that i opened a new account and new the bank manager personally or i would have been libel for the fist conterfeit check $1,994. the sad thing is i believed all of this at first because both my husband and i are cusrrently unemployed and mine ran out and therefore could chance loosing my house so when this came through someone offering me $300 at a clip i was overjoyed. i would love to hear from anyone and maybe get some help in the new york area...thanks and have a happy holiday barbara

Hello, welcome to the forum. Plenty of help is available here - I've really learned a lot - read everything and apply with as many companies as you can. Happy shopping!
Remember in the future there are no jobs which pay $300 for several hours a week of part-time work. There are also no employers who will ever pay you prior to performing work. Do your due diligence and read all of the great advice on this forum and combined with some hard work you will not get rich, but you will have the ability to at least help yourself through these hard times.

Equal rights for others does not mean fewer rights for you. It's not pie.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
I have to echo LisaSTL's comment. You never get paid in advance. If the offer sounds too go to be true, it usually is. The sad fact is that there are a lot of people that pray on the unemployed and financially strapped.

These people are the reason that this industry sometimes get a bad rap. Just remember that basic and you'll prevail.

No pay up front -- EVER...
Don't accept checks on the condition that you deposit and keep some and send back the rest. That just screams out SCAM...
If you ever have any doubts, just ask someone in the forum and they will be more than happy to help you.

You didn't name the MSC involved, but they are clearly not legitimate. That means clicking to Unsubscribe, or Cancel My Account, will probably only serve to confirm to them that your email address is valid, and will not achieve what you hope. To have nothing further to do with them, ever, you'll need to use your email settings to block/ban everything that comes from their domain (probably Yahoo or Aol).

I hope you didn't give them your phone number too.

You need to be certain that when you receive those type checks to send/take them to the sheriff or the local police. These are definitely scams and the police need to know of these things.

Good luck. Be careful with the shops and watch this website constantly. I think it will be very helpful.
