Hello; new to mystery shopping

Hi,

My name is Debbie, and I am new to the field. It looks like there is a lot of useful information regarding companies out there, so I hope to weed out the "bad" companies.

Welcome to the forum, Debbie! As for "bad" companies, realize that for the most part "bad" as represented on a forum is subjective, not objective. About the only "bad" companies are those who do not fulfill their part of the contract by paying you when and as promised. Everything else is personal preference.

An example of this is there is a company that pays for mystery shops of a particular restaurant with gift cards for future visits to that restaurant. For some folks that works, for me that won't work. Personal preference does not make them a "bad" company.

Some folks get their knickers in a twist with a "completely unfair" company that other folks find is great to work with. My personal favorite companies seem to drive others nuts, but they work for me! Your experience is your experience and is what you need to build on. So with the exception of companies that you need to chase down for payments which are overdue, I would encourage you to try every legitimate company you can get a shop with and decide for yourself which ones are worth pursuing and which ones just do not work for you.
I agree with Flash, this is really a personal decision regarding which companies work best for your lifestyle.....try them all, and settle on the ones
you enjoy and work for and with you. I have some I'm not crazy about, yet, I
read on this forum, many love these...I have my favorites, and love the jobs
they provide, where others hate jobs I love. Hopefully this isn't confusing, but the bottom line is, learn for yourself and don't take it literally if someone says they love or hate a certain MSC. Different strokes apply here.

Live consciously....
A great place to find reputable mystery shopping companies is through the trade association, MSPA. Go to www.mysteryshop.org to find good companies in your area, then apply on each of their websites.
