Hi, your enthusiasm is delightful. I've been at this since early April and find that the money trickles in, some pay as much as 3 months after the shop.

I got a call to do a fast food shop. The pay is $5, reimbusement for a sandwich and 12 pages of instructions. I said forget it, I won't leave the house for $5.

The best company to work for, in my opinion, is Market Force, and even then, I try to wait until they call me at the end of the month. Now you're talking a decent pay for a decent shop.

The rest of them are iffy at best. Grrr, maybe just a bad day for me.

Try expanding your horizons by signing up with other companies as well. I rarely leave the driveway for a shop that is not at least $15 in fee + useful reimbursement. (And we all will have different definitions of 'useful'.) If I have an appropriate anchor shop, then I may add some 'cheap shops' along the way.
Yea I work for at least 25 companies but Im signed up with over 50 lol...I did a lot of research before starting this....!! I think around tax time is where I will benit the most cause I am spending alot of cash on ink alone!!
While it is important to read instructions carefully and read through the report before you perform a job, I print almost nothing. I make notes to remind myself what I will be needing to do and save the instructions and a copy of the report in pdf format to my computer. I find it is important to do this because I like to review the information right before I go out on a shop and sometimes the internet is down. It also means that if an editor indicates that I did not do a particular thing and rejects the shop, I have a copy of what MY instructions were and can recheck to see if it was a requirement. If it was not, I am on solid ground to challenge the rejection.

The very first time I do a particular shop I am likely to print out a copy of the instructions and highlight it. After that, just a review of the shop as mentioned above is adequate.
The more companies you sign up with the more of an assortment will come your way as far as pay and ease. I like Flash rarely go out on a shop that pays less than $15.00. I am signed up with 150 or more companies but now only work for about 10. It is a lot of work signing up but worth it in the long run.
