New mystery shopper? Any tips?

I'm a 20 year old female college student attending community college, ahhhh, I just left my mother's house and is now living with my best friend and her family, and during my job search I saw something about mystery shoppers.

It piqued my interest and here I am!

The ad I saw for mystery shoppers was actually a scam, it seemed fishy so I looked into it more before doing anything.

Anyways I applied on market force! But how long is it until they reply? Does everyone get in? Anyone want to share their applying/application process? I think this would be a great thing to do, and it seems fun because it helps me get out more and visit new places! All the while getting paid as well.

If I don't get into market force are there any reputable mystery shopping places that I should apply to as well? I'm hoping to possibly get enough money to get my own apartment/place really soon. Or at least save up for a dorm in my university next year. We'll see how that goes, I need money first though.

Anywayyyyssss, do you guys have any tips for me? On getting a job? What to do? Etc? Is there a mystery shopper guide somewhere?

Hi, lushh, welcome to the forum. There are some mystery shopping books and guides around but why pay for what you can get free? Just above your post are several threads marked "Sticky" (because they are stuck at the top). If you spend an hour or so reading everything there, you will be well on your way. Then read as much as you can of the rest of the forum. Lots of good ideas and information here.

Being a mystery shopper means managing your own small business. It is very time-intensive in the beginning, because you will be reading and researching so you can understand how to set up and run your business. Then you will need to set aside time to apply with many (as many as possible!) mystery shopping companies. For a list of 200 legitimate mystery shopping companies, see the blue link at the bottom of the page, Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies. It takes only a few minutes to apply with each, although some want writing samples and others require that you take tests.

Good luck shopping!
