I paid for some of the hotel shops with a card affiliated with that hotel chain and provided my hotel rewards program membership number when I made the reservations. I received reward points for each of my stays for both (1) the use of the affiliated card and (2) my membership in the rewards program. None of my points have been taken away so far. Who knows? I may still lose some points in the next billing cycle.
Also, as things stand now, some of my charges may not be reversed before I have to pay my credit card.
There's no need to be sorry, BTW. You were just trying to help. I had doubts about what ACL's scheduling people told you due to my own, personal experience that had nothing to do with this client. I decided to take a more conservative approach and try to secure as many points for my benefit as possible. It appears I would have benefited more if I took a wait-and-see approach.
I'm not sorry I did what I did, though. For one thing, I know I would have been much more upset if I didn't act and ended up losing points.
When all my charges have been reversed, I will come back here and report what happened to my reward points. I shopped hotels belonging to different chains/reward programs.
