Be very careful of such ads. If they are offering to send you a large check and then have you wire funds to someone else, it is a scam!!! Please read, read, and read, on the threads in the new shoppers area of this forum before applying to any company. The long list of companies in that section are companies that really do have legitimate assignments. Remember, no one legitimate will pay you in advance, and typical shop pay ranges from $5 to 20, unless you are doing video recording shops or some other specialized work.

Finally, DO NOT pay anyone for shop assignments or for putting you in touch with mystery shopping companies. All of that is available free here or at volition.com.

Welcome and good luck.

I can sum up the advertisement Ms jo----RUN LIKE HELL

I agree. Run like hell and don't look back.
When in doubt you can always check the Better Business Bureau on a company. I did that a couple of times in the beginning and it saved my behind. Some of the scammers will change locations but try to run the same scam. Check the MSPA and see if they are listed with them. Most of the reputable companies are.
Many, many reputable companies do not belong to the MSPA.

Walesmaven is absolutely correct, and several of the MSPA companies are pretty disreputable in my opinion. You will find here threads about slow payments from several companies who are 'members in good standing' of the MSPA. There are also MSPA companies that treat shoppers very shabbily in other ways. You will find the two companies that have the longest stated pay cycles in the business are MSPA member companies and you will find the company with the most ridiculously low fees in the business is an MSPA member. The only thing MSPA membership provides assurance of is that the company in question is not a Nigerian Scammer.
