RETIRED PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR

Recently retired PI (20+ years). Now I have more time to mystery shop. Have been doing mystery shops for most of the 20 years. Sports areas, high-end restaurants, casual restaurants, car dealers, mortgage companies, banks ~~ you name it, I've shopped it!

I really enjoy the work -- especially when I get to do 200 phone calls to a bank, various department, various branches @ $2.00 each ~~~ that's $400.00!!

Love it, love it!!

If I can help anyone out their -- questions, problems, resolutions -- let me hear from you. Always glad to help newbies -- we were ALL newbies at one time!!!

Larry,
I have been doing shops for about 7 months now. But, I am totally new to this site. How can I make money? I have recently lost my job and signed up for college. Can you help me?
Sure -- the best I can.

I know the frustration that your going through. Here is what I recommend. First, what you;re going to be doing for the next week or so is "make" a job out of
"looking" for a job.

Here is what I mean. Go to www.jobslingeers.com." Look at the type of jobs that you'd like to work. When you click on that job, it will send you to the site of the company offering that particular job. SIGN UP AT THAT SITE AND DO ANY "TESTS" REQUIRED. If you do this for about a week (I signed up for about 20 companies that offered the type of stuff that I like to do.) After that first week, they started sending me jobs, within 20 miles of my home, that I liked to do.

It really isn't too difficult -- if I can do it anyone can.

Words of wisdom. If you are going to be the only one with access to your password, keep them all the same -- you'll be glad you did. Image 20 different shopping companies and 20 DIFFERENT passwords - what a nightmare. Even if the company initially issues a password, in most cases you will have the option to change it later.

Also, keep track of which shop you accepted, the date you did it, the amount agreed upon and the date you submitted your work. Not saying that any of the companies will try to cheat you, but remember you are one shopper -- they have to keep track of thousands of shoppers and details - mistakes can happen.

Be patient - I know you need money now, but it may take 30, 45, even 60 days to get paid for your shopping. Might I suggest a little part time job for immediate income.

Good luck and let me know if this helps. Always glad to help another.

Regards,

As it should be. This is a support forum, like a watercooler in the office. It's not about the jobs here, it's about the support and knowledge.

I realize the forum is like an on-line water cooler, but I remember as a newbe (the first few days) I thought that the forum was it! (Of course I never claimed to be the brightest bulb in the pack!) I answered the question the way I would have wanted it answered the first day I found the forum. And, I did find a couple of new jobs on the Forum -- and they were great for newbes (fast food, etc.) giving them a chance to get their feet wet. I always try to give information and info where I can.

BTW, I really enjoy your input. You can tell by your input that you are a seasoned veteran of the shopping industry.
You too, Steveo.
