Looking for help

I'm really anxious to get started but not sure how to go about it. I'm a retired project manager with experience in sales/customer service. I shop everyday, if for nothing more than groceries or gifts, for family and friends. I have a lot of free time even though I do some volunteer work. Live in a town of approx. 60,000 people. We have big box stores and quite a few boutique stores. About 15 grocery stores. I'm looking for opportunities in the Folsom/El Dorado Hills, CA area.

Hi, Conleynl, welcome to the forum. Becoming a mystery shopper means starting your own small business and working as an independent contractor for miscellaneous mystery shopping companies. It's time-consuming at first, because you need to spend time reading and researching and setting up your business. Then you spend additional time registering with mystery shopping companies, providing your personal information, SS# and signing an independent contractor agreement (ICA), which almost always contains a confidentiality agreement. Some ask for a writing sample or have tests for you to take.

A good place to start to find out what you need to know to get started is the New Mystery Shopper area, [www.mysteryshopforum.com]

Good luck and happy shopping!
I would go on jobslinger's site and get the free one-month trial. they will list the jobs in your area. Most are outdated, but at least you will see the namesof the companies what have clients in your area. then go on to each of those companies' websties and apply. the more companies you sign on with, the better your chances.
You can use Jobslinger forever without paying a dime.

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of your time and it really annoys the pig.
Please take the time to research and do not accept anything that you do not feel comfortable with. Take your time and test the water, and make sure that you get paid for your work.

Have a great day.
To all new members just starting out. DO NOT cash a check from any company, these companies are real SCAMS! I have been shopping for 8 years, not one of the many companies I have signed up for ever do this. I recently got an email about cashing a check. Once you give them the information, email, name, etc. beware! Most of the SCAMERS can't spell, or they have no clue what they are doing, except scamming you.
PayPal is trust worthy and the best way to get paid. I've used them for 8 years. Best to keep your pay separate from home check book. Open a savings account and have it just for Mystery Shopping.

NEAT is a scanner that works perfectly for all receipts. Hooks up to your computer. All you have to do is scan, send to your documents and press a few buttons. Works perfectly! You only need the small simple NEAT scanner. jpeg them and your all set. I've never had a complaint from any company.
