Hi from NY

I've been shopping in Upstate NY for 7 months and love my location. I find lots of good paying shops not too far away in Vermont and I love the scenic drives. I hope to make a career out of shopping and auditing if possible. I appreciate any tips to guide me on this path. I'm just starting to feel that I am not getting shops I apply for, perhaps because I am not certified yet. It's something I am considering. However, I've had a great time so far evaluating hotels, restaurants, and of course retail. I love the occasional phone call shop and would like to get more of them. During one of my mystery calls I found out indirectly that there are people who get paid to evaluate cruise ships! What an idea. Anyways, nice to have a place to learn from everyone's experiences. I am happy to share my own.

Shopping Bama and parts of Georgia.
I'm still learning 24/7.
I don't think it's because you're not certified. I did not notice any increase in the number of shops I got once I certified. Some have said they did once they were Gold certified but others say they did not.
Julie, welcome! How many MSCs are you signed up with? If fewer than 50-100, that may be why you are not seeing as many shop opportunites as youwould like. Roation requirements will,of course, reduce how ften you can do a specific location or type of shop,. Many of the really active shoppers here are signed upwith 100-200 MSCs. The list at the bottom of the page will help you to find legitimate companies, and the posts here can help you sort out which might have some problems currently.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Thanks for the advice. I am signed up with about 50 companies so far. Many don't have shops in my area yet. I'm still considering certification. I suppose I'd rather build a relationship with a company and get jobs based on my performance.
