As a mystery shopping, you work as an independent contractor for multiple mystery shopping companies, running your own small business. It is very time intensive at first, because you will need to do a lot of reading and research and you will need to register with mystery shopping companies. I suggest you go to the New Mystery Shopper area and read everything there. Then spend a few hours reading current posts on the forum. After reading and researching, see the blue link below, Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies, and sign up with several of them on their websites. You will provide your personal information and SS#. Some will want you to submit a writing sample and take tests. After being accepted by each mystery shopping company, you will be able to search their job site to see if they have available assignments in your area. Happy shopping!
