New from Eugene, Oregon

Hello everybody.

I just launched my new company this month called Ladyofthelake.

My service offerings will be:

* Process Server
* Mobile Notary (Yes, I have a Notary Commission from the State of Oregon)
* Document Courier (mostly legal documents from law office to court house and visa versa)
* Court Document Retrieval
* Document filings
* Photocopying

* In the process of becoming a licensed Private Investigator ... and meanwhile also

* Mystery Shopper (It seems to fit.)

I have enjoyed reading the posts about how other Mystery Shoppers get and stay organized and which software they are using to organize their Mystery Shopping business. I also like to use my computer to stay organized.

I have also started a little list of which companies to try and which to avoid based on reports I've read in the posts.

I now "get" that the first thing to do is to check out the Official List of Mystery Shopping Companies at the bottom of this page and sign up with serveral companies to see who has "jobs" or "work orders" (not sure of the nomenclature yet) for my area.

Maybe it's because I am new...but it really sounds exciting and fun. I can't wait to get started!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm excited to get started!
Lady,
If you are serious, you will not just sign up with a few companies. When you have a hundred companies, you will just have started exploring the possibilites. Start by trying one job or each kind that you see near you. You will soon find what fits you best, and visa versa. And please remember, one shoppers chocolate is another's poison. I love CSE; others avaoid their shops at all costs. I love video and audio recorded shops; some shoppers would never try one. I hate ff shops; others make a small fortune off ff routes, it seems.

Poor customer service? Don't get mad; get video.
Thanks Wales.

After hours and hours of reading and research on this forum, as well as viewing a few YouTube videos...I finally picked a company and signed up today. I have already submitted a request for a desired assignment in my area.

Tonight, I'll look for a second company to add and check out their available assignments for my area.

It's fun to see all the various assignments available. But I'm not one to bite off more than I can chew at one time. I like to keep things organized and am willing to take the time to ramp up. That way I can make sure I am working smarter, and not harder.

btw... what is an ff route? I did a search on ff and nothing comes up.

I too would enjoy audio and video recorded shops. Especially since I have extensive experience with both overt and covert CCTV observation systems. That seems like a natural fit.

ff = Fast Food.

You remind me of myself when I started, a bit at a time. My first few months, I didn't make much, but was nearly giddy when I got the checks.

I have a friend who, when starting, thought four shops a week was overwhelming. After a few months, she laughs at that, and is now up to 10-15 a week. It all depends on what you want/need, and your availability.

Something tells me you won't need my wishes of good luck, Ladyofthelake.
Mert, I think you are right. I won't make much at first, especially considering the learning curve that just takes more time in general...but when I get those first payments ...joy, joy, joy!!!!

Lady,
Before you even think of audio and video covert recorded shops you will need a lot of experience with written shops that are of the more complex sort. Apartmen shops would be a goof training ground. The largest apartment shop MSC is EPMS.

You will NOT see much variety in shops and fees until you sign up with 25-39 companies. Remember, signing up is NOT the same as committing to do shops. It just lets you see what the company offers. Also, if you look at the job bpards late in the month, or even after the first week of the month, the best shops will already be taken, so you will get a skewed view showing the least popular, worst pay for the work shops.

You are definitely starting off smarter than me. If I had a dollar for every time I bit off more than I could chew, lol!
